Found this smart camera on sale at Australian Geographic. Bought their indoors model (Netatmo Welcome) during previous sale from the same shop and so far am very happy with it. Works with Apple Homekit, Google Home, Alexa and IFTT. No subscription required. Has a very nice face recognition function, so it does not trigger notifications for known faces.
Got Officeworks to price beat by 5% with no issues. Should have done the same even for the first purchase :)

It doesn't recognise average and ugly faces.
what about really, really, really ridiculously good-looking faces?
According to Fabio, the most beautiful man in the cosmos, you would need to upgrade to to the Netatmo Paparazzi camera.
What's the point of having indoor model?
Not a deterrent indoors and can't see people casing your house….Yeah naah it is an external camera.
This one is. OP posted …Bought their indoors model (Netatmo Welcome) during previous sale from the same shop..
What’s the point of having an indoor camera without facial recognition? :)
If someone does break into the house, you get notified (and video uploaded to the cloud) immediately.
For me as a parent it’s cool to see at what time kids arrived from school :) that’s mostly it..
Also as long as family members are at home, I don’t get spammed with notifications from motion sensors, etc.
Maybe could be used for some more advanced home automation scenarios like different mood lighting for different people, idk.
Anyways, usually going through the security cameras recordings is a very boring experience, whereas with facial recognition you will have time stamps for all the known and unfamiliar faces
If anyone is interested, its a very good camera. Currently, have 5 installed around my house and with the iCloud and HomeKit monitoring features coming in iOS 13 its going to be great.
Pretty exxy compared to the ring range. Are they that much better?
Depends on who is on what ecosystem I suppose :) cameras working with HomeKit are a bit rare at the moment.
Ring is good (I guess) if you’re with Alexa.
Damnation, I wish I could afford this. I have the basic Netatmo weather which serves me well… and my front light died months ago (needs more than just a new globe)… Grrrr… have to wait.
Oooo thats freaky.
