  • Got mine delivered yesterday which Is 30/07/2019. And it has dent and scratches on the back. Keyboard and mouse doesn’t work. Really refurbished aye lol. Besides these little imperfection, all good. Btw. Do I need a anti virus software to install on windows 10? Thx

    • No. Windows Defender does the job. It comes with Windows 10

    • +1

try Change the batteries in Keyboard and mouse. Mine worked after I change the batteries

  • I haven't received any updates on my order and still shows "processing". Even called them and suggested to give me another model instead. Was told that they will update me via email if it's possible, but no update after 2 days.

    • Are you using this link to give an overview of the order status? https://orderstatus.hpcloud.hp.com/os/simpleView.tcl

      • Yes, It shows no progress. Planned Ship Date: 17-Sep-2019.

        • Is the coloured bar with stages at the top still on 'processing' right now or does it at least show 'accepted' in red?

          • @JacobHarvey: Just showing "submitted" in red. Still not accepted apparently.

            • @happydragon: Since they haven't sent you a cancellation email or call hopefully they'll have enough stock to fulfill yours. My shipping date is now completely blank for some reason

              • @JacobHarvey: Today my status changed to production and the estimated shipping date was for tomorrow, but an hour ago my shipping date disappeared like yours. Called them and was advised it's because the item is not in stock in Australia and is being imported from overseas. Hope you have yours delivered by now.

                • @happydragon: Thanks for that info! Nothing has changed for my order since they wiped the August shipping date (originally July). I have emailed them about it now. I am prepared to wait for it but would just like to have a date and to definitely know it is coming

  • Got an email this morning saying my order has been shipped.

  • Received mine today, looks brand new!

  • +1

I also received mine today and it’s 99% new. It’s been used and returned. I think I know why, as in an already thinking about it already. When the computer is at idle I can hear the fan spinning and it’s a low frequency nose it’s actually very annoying. Constantly white noise and it’s very evident it’s there. Anyone had the same issue?

    • Yeah pretty much the same here. When it's idle I can hear the fan quite obviously.

    • yep. noticed it too.
will try updating the software to see if it does anything

      • I have done all the software, firmware and bios update from HP.

And it didn’t seem to do anything as the fan noise is mechanical, coming from the CPU fan. Good luck to you. I’m waiting for the HP tech to come out and replace the fan.

Hopefully it will fix it. I like the PC. Works well and tidy desktop.

        • Hope so, can you let us know whether it gets fixed eventually? If the HP technician is not able to fix it, I might look to get rid of it.

Hi any updates on this? I just set up the PC and like everything about it except I'm also getting the constant fan noise at idle (it's a whirring sound).

          • @djevoultion: Mine sounds like this: https://vocaroo.com/i/s0lsR1kwoyLk

It's got an undulating sound which is super annoying. Wouldn't be so bad if it's constant.

          • +1

@djevoultion: I will be able to update tomorrow when the tech comes in the morning to replace the fan.

            • @DBW: please do update!

              • @mr_asstight: The tech came and replaced with a new fan, noise is still there :(

                • +1

@DBW: The noise is the same level as before, better or worst?

I wonder if it’s the actual CPU fan that is bad design

                  • @spc12go: Exactly the same level. In BIOS I can see the fan runs at 1800 RPM. Did some research and found this HP Knowledgebase. However, when I am in the same spot I don't see the option to change the fan speed.

                • @DBW: damn :(

                  • @mr_asstight: Usually, a fan should be able to run on even slower than 1000RPM when in idle considering the current season. This, 1800 is just too high.

                    • @DBW: Agree, mines at over 2000 rpm. It should be about 800.

                      • +3

@djevoultion: Good news everyone, HP Technician came and replaced the fan on my computer and it seems to have made a big improvement.
The fan he brought over is a different model to the one he replaced. The exhaust is slightly different design.

                        I hope this helps everyone.

                        • @spc12go: so we should ask for a different fan model lol

                          • @mr_asstight: It’s almost identical just the exhaust is curved rather then bent. That’s the difference in the part. Not sure if you can ask.

  • Mine just arrived today. It didn't come with a mouse or any cables other than the power cable. Anyone else run into the same issue?

    • Should come with wireless mouse and keyboard. Plus a power pack for the desktop

      • Thanks. I've contacted hp.

  • Mine arrived today, it appears as new, a bit of sticky stuff here or there but in excellent condition.
I assumed the keyboard was bluetooth, took me a few minutes to realise I had to plug in the USB dongle in the mouse.

Mine arrived last week after a few delays and hassles.

    1. Initially out of stock
    2. Cancelled the order and then got a call back offering the i5 model (Declined)
    3. The video dongle I ordered to make up the price got shipped even though it was cancelled
    4. Got another call back 2 days later saying that they now have stock of the original order and if I would like it shipped. (Accepted)
    5. Received it on the 8th instead of the 14th (which was good)

The box had refurbished on it and it was not original packaging. Everything looked fine though, no dents, and everything seem to be working. Can't hear the fan noise.

Intending to swap out the Optane and HDD with an NVME or SSD sooner or later, and looking to see if I can mount it on a VESA mount somehow.

On the plus side, mine had 2 Windows licences on it. Windows 10 Pro was the original one stored the UEFI BIOS and then the Windows 10 Home that they flashed over it.

I ran the OEM key finder and grabbed a copy of both, just in case, but when I formatted it and reinstalled Windows 10, it picked up the Pro licence.

So far so good. Seems snappy enough, but it chugs a bit when I run a VM in the background…

    • +1

hey nice thinking on the OEM key finder!

  • Updated the firmware and software and even tried changing power setting to passive but fan noise is still present :(

    • Call up support to have fan replaced

      • Good luck, takes a while. They need to order the fan and once it’s received they will arrangement an appointment. Still waiting for mine.
They have 14 days return policy only.

      • Thanks. They're sending a technician over to assess the PC to determine if the noise is normal or if there's a fault.

  • I've gone into the BIOS (Press F10 at startup) and fan speed is over 2000rpm. Is this the same for everyone?

    • 1800+ RPM for me

    • 1800 for me

      • 1785-1800

        • 2000 for me.
Has anyone found any software to slow down the damn fan/s? I've only noticed it since I did all the software updates….
Or has anyone tried an older version of BIOS (I see HP has 4 versions listed)?

          • @cashie: I've tried various programs but no luck. Not sure about BIOS

            • @djevoultion: Tried all the other 3 BIOS versions and it wouldn't allow me to install any of them.

  • Update: HP technician came to my place and took the desktop away to their workstation. Should know what's happening by Monday. Hopefully they resolve the noise issue.

    • I’m surprised they didn’t replace your fan

      • Keen to hear the resolution.
I'm out in a rural area so I can only guess how they might try to fix mine.
If all of us have this, and a quick google shows heaps of hits on it, it must be a well known issue.

      • I think they will, technician just said he needs to work on it at his workstation, I'll keep everyone posted

        • Good luck to you. I asked for mine to be fixed ASAP because If it doesn’t work then I can return mine.

          • @spc12go: My old fan is made by Delta Electronics and new replacement is made by Foxxcon

            https://imgur.com/a/gNIVXkm

Replacement has fixed my whining fan issue. I'm happy.

Although technician did say the fan will be blowing at high speeds because of window.

The harddrive makes a funny ticking sound though. But was diagnosed as normal.

            • +1

@mr_asstight: Whats the part number of the new one mr_asstight?
It's odd the foxconn one has an older date on it…

edit—> found it, the HP part number is 939236-001

            • @mr_asstight: Good news, I don’t think my hard drive was making noise. But I bought 3 years onsite warranty just in case. I check the warranty status it starts from the manufacture date. Maybe need to clarify with HP

  • My problem has been fixed. Technician said he replaced the "fan assembly unit"

  • +1

Just got mine back after sending it off for warranty repair of the noisy fan, came back heaps quieter.
Happy with the opurchasenow after 3 weeks of frustration.
Just ordered a silver 24" HP monitor to use as a second screen (wasn't a lot cheaper than this entire all-in-one pc), should allow plenty of desktop space.

  • I got this on early august and now it has been broken down for over two weeks and m waiting for thw courier pick it up and refund .

HP quality and customer servo sucks shit.

    BYE trash HP forever

  • Been happy with mine going great for past month now

  • +2

Bought 2 pc and they are going strong. Best purchase of this year
