I think the IQ remotes use a 58khz IR signal and the broadlink mini only blasts 38k.
Foxtel is not a bargain anyway.IQ remotes use a 58khz IR signal
Ours uses bluetooth
Foxtel is not a bargain anyway.
It is when it's free
$42.45 including pastage
Sounds sticky…
I've had nothing but trouble with the 2 of these that I own. They're horrible to get setup, I've had to go back to an older version of IHC to get them to work however even then it was infuriating to get to work. Since the IHC 'upgrade' I've had nothing but trouble trying to get them to work with Alexa.
Spend the money on something half decent that actually works properly 100% of the time.
I use mine with home assistant and I've never had any issues
I don't know what IHC is but I have 2 of these and one of the RF models and they work great. There are open source utilities and they are supported by lots of software as well as Alexa and Miss Google.
have you tested it on Alexa? It got a lot of errors. Broadlink needs to get rid of the skill in Alexa. but It works with Google Home quite well though.
IHC is the app that you now need to use, previously it was broadlink or something like that. I'm not suggesting that they don't work I'm saying they are now a nightmare to set up and the Alexa skill is garbage…Mine worked great until I had to reset them to change wifi networks.
I have used both IHC and Broadlink skills. yeah, Alexa can recognize the new settings. but I would say they don't work in Alexa and saw many complained about the skills in the skill review section.
It might cause an issue as I use both Google Home and Alexa.
Spent 2 days trying to connect to my WIFI. Obviously they don't work with 5Ghz but I was not able to connect to 2.4Ghz no matter what I've tried. Multiple people on internet report same issue. At the end just returned my unit. Strongly recommend to stay away or at least buy with ebay plus to be able to return.
To shed some light.
There are (at least) two versions of the RM Mini. They both show up in app as an RM Mini, but with the graphic slightly different and different firmware revision.
One I have zero issues getting to work with Google Home and Alexa, the other wouldn't work no matter what I did (including old version of the app on android).
Only way I can suggest people go is to get one that advertises as Google Home/Alexa compatible, pay with PayPal, and if they send the cheaper, non-compatible version, open a case.
Thanks for the info. The version in this deal makes no mention of GH or Alexa. And I've already placed the order…
using it with google home and no issue, able to switch on/off my aircon without needing to invest in those expensive sensibo ones.
As above, no Foxtel and Trash to setup.
OK for on/off toggles but just buy a harmony hub if you actually want it to work.
I suffered pain on setting them up and also lost all my settings after a major software update was pushed to android app
However, It is all good now working with homeassistant.
I'm just after these to work with 2x Fujitsu air conditioners. Will it be simple enough to set up? I don't need it to link with google, happy to just use an app to change temp, on/off, etc.
How do they interact if someone else has used the normal A/C remote to turn on/off for example - does it get confused?
Ie - someone at home has already turned on A/C, and I then open the app and try to remote turn on - does it just do nothing? Likewise, if I turn it on by app, and someone then turns it off via A/C remote, if I then 'turn off' by remote, does it confuse the A/C?
Or is it like remote locking at car that is already locked, it just does nothing?
It works like you have an invisible controller. things will happen as same as you pressing a button on your Fujitsu controller. What will happen when you press "on" twice to your a/c?
The app has a selection of Fujitsu air conditioners in its library. You can also program it via the air cons remote.
No, it won't get confused if someone uses the AC remote because the code sent is a full state (e.g. "Cooling at 20'C on fan speed 3"). Note this is true for air cons but might not be true for other appliances.
I've only ever used the Broadlink RM Pro (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32840847488.html)
Are y'all saying that this RM Mini is trash?
The main difference is Pro does RF
what are these?
It's a universal IR remote controllable via an app over the internet.
Seems like out of stock and the buy 2 get 1 free is gone.
Bummer. Snoozed and lost.
Just following up on this, has anyone received their order yet? It's past the shipping estimate and I still haven't received it.
Contacted the seller and they are processing a refund? I wanted to keep the item, but they suggested that they would refund me first and then if the item arrives then I pay them back?? Quite strange.
Same happened. This seller is bad. Don't buy anything from them ever again.
Got a refund. No questions asked. Looks like he never sent them in the first place. Ah well, the hunt continues. Hoping there will be a new version released.
Just a heads up to all. These don’t work with foxtel. I learned the hard way.
