There is not much things you can buy now and sell later for a small profit after enjoy it for some time, but this seiko watch could be one of them. This watch is just superb. I have seen second hand sold more than this price on ebay.

whats good about this watch?
Well made, 6r15 movement is reliable, great polish, case size is perfect.
I bought Seiko Prospex Automatic SRPB99K PADI Mens Divers from them because of the looking and lume. and the accuracy is horrible.
like 5 mins slower every fortnight???https://www.starbuy.com.au/seiko-prospex-automatic-padi-spec…
I have the same watch as you do, also from Starbuy. It uses a 4R35 movement, which one of the most popular Seiko automatic movements used. Mine runs an average of +7 seconds a day.
I think Seiko say that the movement is still working in spec if it deviates (+/-) 30 secs a day. I'm perfectly happy with mine, but if it really bothers you, you could maybe have a chat with someone at one of the local Seiko service centers? There are branches in NSW and VIC. It's a pretty simple fix. Though granted, not everyone may be comfortable opening up the watch to regulate it themselves - so ask the Seiko service center to help you out.
@ihavok: Thanks for the tips.
I contacted with starbuy initially, and of course I was pushed to seiko official.
So basically I been told I have to pay postage both ways plus the fees if they did some work to the watch incl parts price.
I was not really impressed as I just bought it and I never dropped it so far, from where I concern, the watch just come with 5 min slower, and now they are making me to pay for everything.ah..I donno, cant bothered, may be I will be end up paying more to fix it.
@nng526: I really don't think a mechanical watch is for you. Perhaps try quartz?
@nng526: Sell it as is( good thing of Seiko they hold the price well) and get an Eco drive, precision of a quartz, but the the tech and longevity of solar, citizen is the leader and Seiko start pushing more and more models too, but from what I heard citizen customer care is amazing.
When my last chrono quartz battery died I got a citizen from Starbuy back in October, and since then I got other 2 and can't be happier. 1 chrono, 1chrono diver, 1diver.
I was more than once tempted to go for a mechanical watch, but I know it's not for me (need to keep it moving in a way or another, should be serviced every 3 years, re adjust the time every week if you want to keep proper time).
Citizen has 5 years local warranty.
@nng526: @nng526 Not a problem. Without opening up the watch to regulate it, there are still a couple of things that you can do that may help make the watch run a bit faster to counteract your problem:
- make sure the watch is sufficiently wound. If you don't walk around a lot daily with the watch, there is a possibility that its power reserve is sometimes on the lower side, causing it to run slightly slower than normal. You can address this by giving the watch an occasional manual wind every few days (nothing excessive required if this is your daily watch).
- when you are not wearing the watch like at the end of the day, store the watch with the watch face/dial facing up. You can google this to learn more. But essentially, automatic movements run a little faster/slower depending on what position the watch is in.@ihavok: That comes to 21 secs a day which is beyond my tolerance for a daily wear watch.
My tolerance is about -/+ 5 secs a day but then I change watches every few days.
My opinion is that Seikos have varying QA… I dont mean Grand Seikos and really expensive ones but up to say $1k you get a fair bit of variance on even the Seikos above.
In reality $1k is enough to buy Swiss and you may as well go Swiss at this money.
@tonyjzx: @tonyjzx Totally understandable, mate. I've got a few watches that I rotate through daily. So it's cool with me if it runs a little fast/slow. Unless it's my Quartz watch, they are out of power by the time i wear them again anyway.
I have this exact watch. The specs say 44mm but it definitely wears like a 41 or 42mm due to the size of the bezel and case shape. The case and bracelet also have a protective coating called Diashield that helps resist scratches and swirls. Easily a step up from my Turtle and SKX. However, the bezel action still feels a bit mushy. Like other Seikos before it…the sbdc061/63 and Spb077/79 (and others in the series) do have misalignment issues.
I am intrested in seiko SNR033
Very beautiful, and also very expensive
Beautiful watch you just linked, very classy and mininal (for a diver)
Not surprising given they all use the 5R spring drive movement.
Not really relevant in a thread for $800 watches
I saw a youtube video and thought about buying it, man it is over 6k, I would rather buy Rolex after 2 or 3 years!
You might want to check the used market price on a good condition 2-3 year old Sub. Not exactly cheap.
That's his point .. they appreciate
@matt-ozb: Oh yeah for sure. I didn't read it that way.
@ilikeit: Not that the seikos have bad depreciation, but if you're spending $6k+ there may be better investments than Seiko / grand Seiko .. I love Seiko btw .. wearing a sbbn035 right now .. bought for about $690 direct from Japan used.
wondering how many people bought this watch thru this post….
not me .. i prefer my sbbn035
If I didn't already have one I would have.
Enough to be sold out lol.
plenty of good investment watches.
i usually buy on fromjapan.co.jp … wear the watch for 12 mths, sell on ebay for a small profit, then try a new watch from japan.
