Is the game any good?
I'm wanting to get some board games this Christmas for the family. Boys aged 16, 14, 11 & 8. The older 3 love playing my ticket to ride, dutch blitz, rum rebellion. I'm thinking of getting Pandemic, Century: Spice Road, 7 Wonders and Splendor.
Should I be getting the original Pandemic?
have played the original pandemic; excellent game
here are family game ratings on board game geek
https://boardgamegeek.com/familygames/browse/boardgame
pandemic is highly ranked
I believe pandemic legacy is has a longer campaign, and is currently ranked #2 overall
currently $95 @gameology

I believe if you buy legacy, you could play the basic pandemic on the same board (not 100% sure, but this is what I have read online)
7 wonders is an excellent game ( I am waiting for a price drop myself)
Splendor and Century: Spice Road are good but very similar to each other
those four games you're looking at are all very good. I'd maybe suggest Forbidden Desert over Pandemic (more elegant and more thematic IMO) but you can't really go wrong with either.
to add one more suggestion though, check out The Quest for El Dorado (deck builder/racing). It's an amazing amazing game, and I'd say a nearly perfect combination of theme and complexity for boys that age. It's been the biggest board game hit yet at my place.
The start of pandemic legacy is just normal pandemic.
The start of pandemic legacy is just normal pandemic.
the end is different
but do you have to destroy the board during the campaign
can you reuse it after?
As you play you need to place stickers and tear up cards (It's a legacy game so it's only supposed to be played once). However, there is a pdf with all of the stickers and cards you can print out so you can avoid permanently modifying your original, but imo it defeats the purpose and you might be more callous with your decisions. Plus once you've finished the first playthrough, the 2nd will be impacted by your prior knowledge.
Get Pandemic, 7 Wonders and Splendor. Great games.
Century Spice Road was $31 for about half a day about a week ago on Amazon AU, I don't know if it'll be that price again.
