      Pretty standard for Android unfortunately. Doesn't hurt to let people know that these apps targeting kids are accessing the photos and files on your device though.

  I had assumed most those permissions were for ad serving.

    This is normally a paid app. Don't think it has ads

      The paid apps too may have some ads promoting others apps from the publisher, in this app's case, the google play listing states that it contains ads.
