Yeah, I walked into my local JB & they had them onsale for $50 a couple of years back & I thought that was a steal…this is an awesome price, the Gollum statue is cool! :)

Just saying oz-bargainers should have noticed how cheap BD is now.Did they remaster it for the extended BD pending release on 28 June?
The reviews of the BD transfers for the theatrical releases weren't exactly stellar!
I've got these & they upscale nicely to 720p on my Samsung DVDR-155! Once I looked at the theatrical BD playing once at JB I didn't bother, I'll wait for better quality transfers (and a price drop :p) before upgrading! :)
they would HAVE to remaster it. If they didn't I don't think anyone would be buying. Hell I heard some fanatics saying the DVD has better quality than the grainy BD version.

You'd only really buy this for the statue, especially with the Blu-Ray extended edition around the corner. Some of these collector's edition versions pop up every now and then. I saw the ROTK Minas Tirith version in a Best Buy a year back for $20?
Gollum scares the living crap out of me, I'd get it if they had the liv tyler, those dragons or treants.

I opened mine today. I am surprised at how good quality the statue is. It's pretty heavy at 639 gm. It would cost $10 just to post the statue alone. There is a flyer inside that advertises a statue of Gollum (you get Smeagol with the movie), which is more evil looking with him snarling at you. I want that one too, but it's $80.

I remember buying the set of these when they first came out at around $90 to $150 for each box set, happily paying the price thinking they were a limited edition. I can't believe the price on this, epic movie and contains many extra features.
