The belt does not look like solid whole-grain leather. It looks like the sort of belt that has some other sort of polymer filling, with a plastic upper surface and a reconstituted leather base.

So far the only belts that are solid leather at slightly more than this price ($65-70) are R.M. Williams and they do look like you would get 10+ years out of them (go with the reputation/brand here).
