  • Can i buy now and deliver in 2 months? We’re moving houses and i’m only 70% sure about the sizing…

    • +9

Or invest the money now and buy in 2 months when you are 100% sure

      • -5

No upvote for trying to save?

    • +1

I would be extra careful with sizing and don't just buy and make do. I have this and love it, but didn't it was a pain to fit because I have an in-wall toilet bowl and it's too short depth-wise so needed little pads to raise it off the seat since the nozzles and dryer functions jut down. The seat lid then didn't stay up because it was too tight so needed magnets to hold it up.

The shape is for a typical washlet shaped bowl in Asia and US, so not ideal for Australian toilets… I would almost buy the bowl to go with it.

      • +1

How do you mean by shape?

        • -8

It's longer, and less curved. Better accommodating for a dick, which is annoying because it's more standard I'm smaller average dick size countries.

I've been in China for a couple weeks, and other than the occasional hole in the floor experience, the toilets here are far superior to the Australian standard. They flush quieter, better (water both falls around bowl, and it has a horizontal flusher at the bottom of the bowl), and more comfortable (shape).

Australian toilets are expensive and inferior - just like the food that inevitably ends up in them.

          • @Salmando:

            Better accommodating for a dick…

            What??

            • @bobbified: He was just enjoying his succulent Chinese meal so he had to talk about penises

          • +1

@Salmando: Others have negged you but I know what you mean. Chinese and other many other O/S toilets are typically deeper front to back and there's lots more space for both "rear" and "front" needs.

Australian toilets remind of those in the UK, broad and shallow/short and are often paired with a bulky cistern which doesn't help…..

            • @freddofrog42: Thank you, exactly what I mean.
Our toilets here are typically so round in comparison, it causes is to sit further back than we should.

      • If I don't have a compact toilet and it fits within the template so you think the toilet seat is comfortable. You said in the other thread that it felt like you are falling off the seat, is this just because your toilet is compact wall cistern and it would be good with full sized toilet?

I'm trying to decide on a toilet seat with bidet function.

    • sorry.. this is not for delivering babies. It's to deliver shit.

  • +4

Is having readily accessible power outlets for a toilet seat a common trend that I've been missing out on?

    • +2

No it is not. Having mains powered devices in the toilet isn't a thing in Australia so it's not the norm to have PowerPoints in there. I do wonder how many of these seats are hooked up to an extension cord carefully run out the door to the nearest PowerPoint….!

    • +2

      Start the trend mate

  • Difference between international and Australian version?

    • +9

There are a lots of differents. They was only chinese version before. We made a lots of change to meet Australian Standard. We change all package to english. Smart Toilet seat Assembly with AU PLUG(Chinese Plug), Inlet Water Hose with a Fasting Nut(Australian standard), Tee-Connector(Australian standard), Plastic Screw Anchors, Screws, Installing Caliper(English), Mounting Plate, Securing Brackets, Water filter, Locking Fastener and English Instruction Manual. All come with Australian standard.

      • +2

        "AU PLUG(Chinese Plug)"

        • +1

Yeah. China uses two plugs. One is identical to ours.

          • +1

@Morien: It's ours but the gangs are upside down. This matter sometimes

            • +1

@ndftz: The pins are also a bit thinner so depending on the original grip of the socket it might fall out easily.

              (that's what she said)

I only seem to have that issue with some Chinese devices in power boards though. Something like the Xiaomi Mi Strip straight into the wall socket still feels secure.

A "Pro" version of a shitter? Now I've heard everything.

    • correction: …'whale spout Pro' version of a shitter

    • You've never used a good shitter.
These have made me question whether an ass towel could replace toilet paper completely.

Yes, imagine no toilet paper - now imagine not needing it.

      • Only thing missing in the 1st gen xiaomi is drying function so toilet paper still needed for drying hah.

  • +4

Love the app control function. Think of all the practical jokes I can play on unsuspecting people!
**Obviously need to find something better to do..

      give you a new experience.

      • The feeling is good

  • What would be the best way to install something like this?

My fill valve is inside the cistern on a wall faced toilet. There's a small cutout at the back to let the valve in.

I feel like the only way would be to make another cutout on the side or buy a whole new cistern to accommodate this/get a plumber.

    • Is wouldn't be safe to connect it to the sink value right? As there could be backflow?

      • There's cheap contraptions to prevent backflow

      • It has backflow prevention. Actually required.

    • Can't be done, I tried. I got the toilet seat a week before moving into an apartment that had the exact setup you mentioned. I thought I got creative - filed out a hole in the left side of the lid, got an extension piece from Bunnings that would reach from the seat to the lid…

No way I can get the filter bit to fit after all that. No room inside the cistern for the splitter.

Lucky it wasn't picked up during final inspection, a hole in the cistern.

Moved into my new house thinking "finally can use this".
Stupid gala brand toilet, has proprietary screws holding the lid down with the under parts helping inside the bottom toilet unit. Maybe getting a screwhead is easy enough, but the screws are in the back of the lid clamps which have a 4cm gap between then and the cistern! I think I need to remove the cistern, but I'm considering buying a new toilet period.

Good luck though. It's worth it. Using a bidet honestly feels like taking a full body shower every time you shit.

      • I take a shower each time I do a number 2 anyway.

        • Even at work?

          • @khomeini: Don't go at work. Wait til I get home.

  • does this one still require a filter, I find my filters die after a couple of months, then they need to be replaced, 40 bux every couple of months kills it for the smart toilet seat…

    • +1

Inlet Water Hose come with small filter, Water filter was supplied as well. You may not need filter very often as our water quality is good. Our new Water Filter will cost around $29.

  • +2

I don't think this one looks anywhere near as good as the other model. Having the controls on the side rather than a panel is not as useful.

We are building a new house so putting the power points in ready.

    • Agreed that this controls placement is awful compared to the other xiaomi bidet. I can see it being good for places where the other one doesn't fit, but it's quite a trade-off otherwise.

(Sure, you can probably just switch app from browsing ozbargain/reddit but I wouldn't want to rely on having my phone on me)

    • The only thing this has over the previous model is the feeling of the seat. The ceramic feels much more sturdy that the plastic used on the smartmi.

Still, for the price difference, I'm not concerned with upgrading.

    • Agree, although the addition of the deodorizer and warm air dryer is nice but without the control panel is not a good idea. unless you are the only user and setting haven't change since last use one would like a quick look at the setting before you start it up.

  • Hey op how do I check if my toilet is compatible?

    • Item description show compatible measurements.

      • Thanks, bought one

        • Thanks. Check measurement Here

Any recommendations as to which common locally available toilet bowl (Caroma) suits best?

  • Which side does power and water come in? Can they be swapped? Looking at my toilet I have power on the left and water on the right.

    • Water at the same side of side control panel. Power cable on the other side.

      • Can they be swapped? My water/power is on opposite sides

        • No, But Water inlet hose is 50 cm and have one extended hose for 20cm.

      • How about on the other model you sell? Would be nice to install the things in a new house build in the right spots.

  • +1

I just use a dental water floss pick instead.

    • Its for the other end smarta**

  • Renovating the apartment. This will be perfect. Thanks op!

  • Interesting deal…..I just can't work out who is wanting to take a pss on it and who is just 'taking the pss'

    • Gotta hate it when you censor yourself …only to have your OWN censorship censored. :( FML

  • The deodorising function looks like it uses a consumable carbon filter, do you sell replacement filters? Note this is to filter the air, not the water.

  • +4

Is it the same as this one?

      Looks the same to me
photos look the same, the name appears the same "Xiaomi Whale Spout"

good find, and cheaper, works out to be $371 delivered

  • The missus will lose her schit if I buy this…

    • Until she find the feminine massage function.

  • As someone who is currently travelling in Japan: I have seen the light, and this deal is very tempting.

    • You're better off with a Toto seat. That's what we bought in the end. We then had a Japanese plug fitted in the bathroom. 5 years on and it's still going good!

      • Can I ask where you bought the Toto from and how much it was? Is the Japanese voltage and plumbing interchangeable with the Australian?

  • how much are the replacement filters?

  • +1

What sort of surveillance measures are implemented in this iteration?

      • Wowsers, thanks

  • I really want this but I have a new house and there is no visible plumbing for me to connect to… I need to youtube this methinks.

  • I went for the old model Smartmi with the buttons more conveniently located. Yes this is without the AU compliance, dryer and app function. The app was a negative as was the wifi connectivity (and logging of big logs to China). On ebay can be had for $79.99 + GST inc shipping, after, 10% ebay off via gift card ~$80 could be an actual bargain.

    • +1

If it was this one, then it's a scam listing. All the feedback is from 0 feedback accounts or removed accounts, and they've just listed quite a few products for way under their normal price to get quick cash and run.

      • Thanks it was that one. I got a note this afternoon that Ebay has delisted the seller 'due to concerns with the seller's account'. The seller tong96631 had feedback score of 100% with 107 feedback, but is now not a registered user.
Apparently I've now got to wait for it not to be delivered so I can open a case and get my money back. Sigh.

      • Here is anther one that may or may not be a scam https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Xiaomi-Smartmi-Smart-Toilet-Seat…
Hard to tell this one has feedback from users with higher feedback, but hey who knows?

      • +1

just got refunded by ebay after raising a case straight away.

    • If China wants information on my poop, I'm more than happy to give it to them.

  • AU and Chinese plugs are the same thing

  • Does the water hose connect to the left side of the washlet if youre facing the toilet?

Can you please attach the installation manual?

    • Yes. Same side of control panel.

    • Check installation Manual here

  • Hi rep. Noticed stock was in Melbourne.

If install doesn't workout/doesn't fit, can we return in person?

    • Please Check measurement Here.

    • +2

I think that was another way of saying no.

      • -2

Oh well. PayPal can refund returns.

Hopefully it fits though. I want to put the hose behind the seat between the seat and the cistern. Water out is on the right side of the toilet and the inlet for this bidet is on the left..

        • PayPal probably wouldn't refund that return unless it's faulty.

        • +1

Poor form - Returning a half 'used' toilet seat that may not be reselable at full value because you didn't bother to check measurements first is unethical.

          • @gimme: I did check. It should fit - just asking for peace of mind.
