  • I've seen this so many times, but now that I'm drunk again (seems to be a frequent thing #gettingoldmayaswellbeanalcoholicnothingbetterishappeninginmylife) it seems like the best thing ever for me, being the typical anxiety suffering douchebag you expect these days.

Wow, I seem bitter. Sorry guys

You're looking for a deal on coffee, try 7-11 for $1 cups, but I do not recommend driving.

      • I'm in China, it's making me realize the lack of real freedom we have in Australia.

        • Like how? Also… if you're internets are being monitored… maybe don't tell us anything.

          • +2

@BadGiraffe: It's the small things. Driving here seems chaotic at first, but it's honestly just like walking in the street. You drive anywhere, even on the wrong side of the road if you need to get over there, and people just casually move around you. You only get honked when they want you to know where they are so that they can try something stupid too. You can park pretty much anywhere as long as it's not blocking something completely.

You can take your dog anywhere, without a leash.
You don't need to wear a helmet on a bike.
You don't need a permit to sell things on the street, people can pick some cherries from their yard and start flogging them cheap on the sidewalk. Never rude about it either.
Children can still climb a tree here.
You want to climb a mountain? Go for it, government doesn't stop you from trying just because you might get hurt.

Can buy beer and spirits from the supermarket. They actually have beer machines where you just pay and, place the cup, and you get beer - no i.d., no monitoring. Yet I haven't seen a single drunk kid.
You're encouragement to try everything before buying - even if it's wrapped 😂.

            • @Salmando: Sorry… for a minute there I thought you said it made you realise the freedom we have in Austarlia. I have mainlander Chinese friends who say what we hear on TV about the Chinese government is exaggerated. Do you feel safe there? Safe from the government?

              • @BadGiraffe: Yeah I feel safe here. The government here seems to keep people in the loop of what's going, can't say that for Australia.

While things here seem a bit filtered, it seems effective. People seem much more respectful of other people and their property here, and very respectful of elder people.

The police here are super friendly and helpful, not power hungry wanks. My father in law said he got out of a speeding ticket recently because he wasn't drunk or driving bad, and his excuse of meeting the bathroom badly seemed fine for the cop.

Can't imagine getting out of a ticket in Australia without a huge investment in a great pair of tits.

@Salmando: I'm a fat guy, so I already have a great pair of tits.

Visiting China still scares me a bit, but it's something I want to do before I'm too old.

                  • @BadGiraffe: Well if you go, you'll probably appreciate the North more. It maintains the Chinese culture while being more modern and safe.

The South has better food, and better culture and sights - but seems poorer, a bit dirtier, and the toilets are 97% of the time a flushable hole in the floor you'll need to squat over without holding onto to anything. It's hard for me, and as a fat guy I think you'll hate it. Combined with the chilli oil rich foods, it can be unpleasant.
And by hole in the floor, I don't mean a round hole where everything disappears into - it's literally a 10cm deep rectangular tray that flushes horizontally.

        • Since you’re in China, you can go to a Xiaomi Store and pick this up for AUD$2. That’s what we did when we were there.

          • @Nitrous: Went to a couple stores, but didn't find this particular item. Got a couple things - the powerbanks here in store are crazy cheap, $25 for the recent model 20000mah version, $15 for the previous model.

It's a pity I can't take some of the stuff here back with me. They gave me a USB light for free when I bought a power-board

            • +1

@Salmando: Careful with the power bank carry on limit on airlines! Know from experience travelling back from China..

            • @Salmando: I think it’s kept behind the counter. Don’t know why. I only noticed them when I went to pay and saw a small box of them. We’re nuts for Lego so that’s probably why we noticed it.

  • Why do I want this?! Its stupid and unnecessary but I gota have it
