I wish this had NFC though

    • Or a fingerprint sensor

The lack of fingerprint sensor is the deal breaker for me.

I cannot imagine the camera popping up and down everytime I try to unlock the phone via Face ID.

This phone isn't going to last more than 6 months before the mechanism gives up.

        • Especially if my kids hold of it, the mechanism is going to be in 2 pieces

        • Durability of the pop-up mechanism has been one of the biggest questions? I've heard lots of concerns but not much tangible feedback. It's been out almost a year, I wonder if anyone can report early failures?

I've liked the idea and look of this phone since release, but with some obvious caveats (e.g
IP rating, 1080p). I've thought of getting it if it came up cheap, but seeing $700 is still too much for me to take the risk.

@muwu: Have had it for 11 months and dropped it maybe twice. No issues with the pop up camera for me.

    Nice find

But I prefer the OnePlus 7 pro

  • No water protection.. Looking for something to replace aging v20. Dropped it a million times and survived every time

    • I'm in the exact same boat. Ended up buying a Note9. Will get a sturdy case around it.

    • V30+? bigger storage, flagship processor and water protection

No fingerprint, no NFC…no NFC is an unforgiveable sin for a phone of this price

    Better an oppo reno

  • In store only

For the love of whoever you believe in, please do your research before buying an Oppo and, in particular, make sure you can remove their custom OS. Otherwise, I suspect you will become very annoyed with its restrictions (generally in the name of power conservation). It's a shame, as their hardware is usually very good for the prices charged on their phones.

I own one of these. Had it for almost a year now. I bought it cos of the high specs vs low price and at the time it was one of the first bezzelless screens. In short, I don't recommend this phone.

Its hardware seems to be high in specs but low in quality. I've had it replaced once as it stopped picking up 4g. It had to be sent away by JB hi-fi to Oppo and 6 weeks later I got a replacement. In the mean time I had to use an older spare phone (nightmare)

The camera is actually good and has never failed me yet but it's honestly just a gimmick. A finger print scanner would have been preferable to unlock the phone. OS is what kills it for me. One of the worst android OS (colorOS 5) I've used (very buggy, limited and restrictive. Stay away) .

If I could do it again, I would have gone the Xiaomi mix 3 (considering this was purchased almost 9-12 month ago) probably a lot better phones out now. Hope that helps.

  • I wonder how much is the 128gb model.
