First Post. Was looking for my first headphones and these BeyerDynamic DT990 PRO Open Studio Headphones (250ohms) sound pretty promising and they're down to $165.75 from $249 with free standard postage.

I'll be using it with my computer which has good audio specs, but an amp is recommended for other uses.

    Great price. Fantastic headphones!

Just be aware that at 250ohm, you'll want something with a more powerful amp than your average phone to drive these.

This, for anyone purchasing, look into using a DAC/AMP with this headphone on a mobile (Like a Fiio Q1 Mark II, or a soundcard with a dedicated AMP on PC if you're using it on PC). If you already have a DAC/AMP or Soundcard, this is a good price for these headphones. Considering they have decent imaging and a large sound stage too, they would be great for someone who wants a headphone that's good for gaming, as well as entertainment (movies/music).

any of the LG phones with the great quad DAC like the V-series and recent Gs work well without need for another amp

  • Your phone's props won't push this man

    • How about the LG V series?

  • I bought these 4 odd years ago with the first eBay 20% off deals for $155 so this is a great price.

The 80Ohm closed back version (DT770) also available for the same price for those who prefer that style (like me!). They don't look as good as the 990s but each to their own regarding the open or closed design & operation.

  • Tried posting a link to the 32 ohm version also. It's available but Oz bargain doesn't like my link for some reason.

    • Yeah, I spent ages making a deal for the DT770 but OzBargain didn't allow that deal either so I just put it in the comment above. Same store and same code sure but a very different product so definitely not a dupe. Bit frustrating really.

      • In my case, they think I'm trying to insert a referral link or something sinister. I wasn't. In any case, the 80 ohm version is fine with my phone also.

  • I have the 32 ohm version and can't use it because the headband doesn't stretch far enough to fit me.

I have the Tesla T90 and that one fits me, but this doesn't. I'm also told that the DT880 headband extends longer than DT990.

It's not like I'm a Conehead or anything.

I have had these for 9 years and they are still fantastic - it was a 30th Bday present. I do have a mini amp for it, but usually don't have it connected. Sound is great and they are super comfortable. Highly recommend the build quality, sound and longevity. You would be happy with this purchase

    • How many times did you replace the earpads?

      • I haven't yet. Although it is time for it

  • Convince me that I need this for my lg v30, in addition to my Sony 1000 3s, sennheiser Momentum, and my ath m50x :)
