Cheap but the quality is in doubt. I bought one of these for my friend half a year ago but it died a week ago. I was so embarrassed. Should have recommended them some other brand.
thats the good thing about dells though, pretty decent warantee…
If I buy a Thinkpad I don't even need to worry about warranty. That's why I always buy Thinkpad myself.
My Dell Inspiron 6000 from Dec 2005 is still going strong. That's more nearly 5 and a half years. In fact, I'm expecting another few more years from it.
Everything is original except I upgraded the ram to 2GB a couple of years ago (from 512MB). And I just bought a 128MB X300 for $20 to replace my 64MB hypermemory graphics card. But nothing wrong with this old one. I have been overclocking it to 418/301 from the default 300/216. I'm also going to spray paint it black.
All brands have faulty units. Purchases should not be based on anecdotal evidence or a small sample. If I were to buy a new laptop, the decision would be solely based on the components and price, not brand names. But of course, I'll build a desktop myself further down the road instead, as I use my laptop like a desktop anyway. Nothing is better than your own custom-made.
I've had my Dell XPS for about 3 years. It had the HDD die, but that's it.
Not bad for one problem in 3 years.
My Inspiron's almost 4 years old now.
The battery and power adapter needed replacing, but that was less than $80 total on ebay.
Don't know if it's worth the extra cash over a Lenovo or something though…
I'd buy Dell again… my current Centrino 1 Inspiron 600m laptop is still running strong… about 7 years on now I think?
The main battery only just died the other day. And at 1.7ghz it can even run Windows 7 lol. I bought an extended 3 year warranty but never even used it >_<
They all have back to depot WTY so will have to pay more to upgrade to onsite.
sisters Inspiron (about 3 years old) just died the other week
mobo gone~
will tell her about his
Good deal when you can take $11 off by not choosing OnCall Help + $50 off from the AMEX promotion.
total of $488
Not too bad for a dell.
