I have had this type, before I could afford slightly better tools. Even if you're on a budget, you may be better off spending just a few dollars more and get some Stanley ones on special, as these cheap screwdrivers are going to wreck both your hands and the thing you use them on. The soft easily-distorting metal will ensure a poor fit on the screws before long, so you will end up using a lot of force and damaging the screws you are trying to turn. That has been my experience.

    • +1 Spend a bit more and quality goes up a fair bit.

The stanley screwdriver kit is not expencive compared to how long they last….

And I am talking about this set (not the cheap set) https://www.bunnings.com.au/stanley-20-piece-screwdriver-set…

True - not to mention the cost of demolishing the materials you work with when using cheap screwdrivers. Personally I prefer this type with the soft grip ($6 a set - not bad). This type has lasted me for years, and fits screws well. The thicker handle allows me to use more force (large hands). They had a different set on special for $16 not long ago, which had a larger number of screw drivers in it (also the soft handle).

        • thing to look for is cr-v steel and preferably matt black non slip tips …..stanley make cheap ones as do craftech and some of the super cheap toolpro range.
not sure if the rep o ones are cr-v steel.

Should be OK for the odd job here and there. For good quality tools you will pay more than $7 per piece…..this is $7 for a whole set.

  • I was hoping that the largest slotted screwdriver would be "tang thru", but it's not. The first time you put a lot of force on that handle it'll break.

I'm in the market for a cheap screwdriver set, but something a bit better than this one I think.

Edit: There are actually a lot of great little bargains in the Repco GV sale that adr8 linked to. There's no Supercheap or Bunnings within 500km of me, so this looks like a good chance to buy some dirt cheap items that are handy, but I'd normally make do without. Thanks op.

  • nearset stock for me is Broome lol
