  • Shame I already bought the Alienware 34" UHD. I was actually waiting for this screen.

    • +1

Same but that Alienware is a bit better and newer. Also a real warranty.

      • All really good points. This IS however cheaper and has a much high refresh rate. (For those who care of course.)

        • 120 vs 144right?
Guess the Alienware is higher res though too (but also ultrawide)
But then ultrawide can also be bad if what your playing doesn't support it.
But yeah this is cheaper too. You could nearly buy two for a bit more.

          • @RI4V4N: Alienware is 100hz, overclocked to 120hz and is 1440.

Acer is 144hz, overclocked to 165hz and is also 1440.

So it becomes a battle of widescreen vs much higher frames. Putting aside warranty and tech support of course.

P.s. 27" 1440p is a good sweet spot too for gaming IMO.

You didn't miss out. Be happy with the superior product you purchased.

Bought this nearly 1 year and a half ago for $900, not too bad! Love the monitor

    • yeah, I anguished over whether to go this or the ASUS competitor, but very happy with the Acer. from memory, both use the same panel and are notorious for backlight bleed. I think I may have a little bit of it, and it's honestly not bad. although, for all I know it could be minor relative to others.

only problem is getting a computer bad ass enough to run games anywhere near 144fps consistently.

    Very tempting!

How does the warranty work with these ebay sellers? I do see that they have an ABR + display Aussie warranty.

Still remember when i posted this pretty much same time last year haha was cheaper then too.

  • Damn, good price. Anyone had experience with returning through eBay with backlight issues? Heard that this monitor has been plagued with backlight issues.

    • +1

That was primarily with the original batch of high refresh IPS panels, when the xb270hu released. These are a lot better these days

      • Huh, so this wouldn't give me any issues with backlight then? Just want to make sure :)

        • theres always a chance, but you're unlikely to :)

To everyone looking for a monitor for gaming with g-sync and 144hz, this is the one to pick… fantastic monitor.

    • Spot on, for 27" 1440p it's between this and the Asus PG279Q. Whichever is cheaper really.

      • Yep, im pretty sure they use the same panel, the only big difference is the stand.

  • +1 Just got it and love it.

This is marketed as a gaming monitor, and it excels as one, but is also good for general productivity work, image viewing, video watching, etc. It equivalent in that respect to a Dell Ultrasharp. Only hardcore Photoshop users or professional photographers should keep away, because it doesn't support Adobe RGB Colour Space like the higher end Dell models do.

Because the resolution is less than 4k you don't need a $1000+ video card to be able to run new games with the Settings on High.

Because the resolution is less than 4k you don't need a $1000+ video card to be able to run new games with the Settings on High.

Depends on games of course. From my experience nothing less than a 1080Ti (or higher) to constantly hit 144fps on AAA titles.

The ppl who bought the Alienware ultrawide (while an excellent monitor and purchase) will soon realise they'll need a 2080Ti too for constant high frames on high settings.

  • I have the older XB270HU and can safely say that these are amazing monitors for gaming. Only for HFR gaming and office work though. They don't do HDR and have pretty low brightness levels compared with modern screens so you won't get that 'pop' that you can get from a Xbox One X & OLED/Samsung QLED combo. Then again, you won't be stuck playing at 30fps in most games, so choose your poison.

  • Great price for a great monitor OP.

  • Do these guys ever do restocks during sales? I'm sad I missed out!

  • If anyone is after somehting cheaper the kogan is pretty good. I am using one now.

    27” curved display with QHD 2560 × 1440
    Samsung Panel 144Hz

  • I have this exact monitor. Love it. Best I've ever owned.
