I wonder if the accidental damage and loss insurance at $177 through Officeworks is worth it, for a phone at this price?
There is an excess of $75 per repair, and $175 for replacement of a lost or stolen phone.
So, this would add an extra 17.7% to the cost of a $1,000 phone, but the repairs would be only $75.
Tbh I would not bother these insurance at all. But again, yeah costs of replacement screen for Samsung phones are quite higher than iphones. So insurance from OFW might be worthy.
Yes. Insurance for electronic equipment has not been good value at all for the vast majority of appliances (some would say a rip off, and I would tend to agree with that).
It's just the high cost of these phones, the frequency with which they break, and just the general wear/tear/use/and abuse, that might make me consider it.
The devil lies in the detail I guess (the small print in the T&Cs), but if it covers what it claims to cover, I could see a few users who might find they come out ahead in the end having the insurance (say a parent with young kids, where the phone might get thrown around and dropped a fair bit).
Having said that, I would imagine that number of users who'd buy it, to be small (even if it's just because of the bad rep such insurance has always had).
And if JB is your favourite store then $1099 there-

Not a deal as it's $1077 at OFW right now.
