Pixel 3 64GB $599 @ JB Hi-Fi. Price Match Harvey Norman + Trade in Old Phone (Normally $1199)

Moved to Forum: Original Link

JB Hi-Fi are running a $350 trade in credit for the Pixel 3, detailed in the comments of this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/458741

Harvey Norman currently have a flash sale on the Pixel 3 for $949 (edit: removed "today only" from the title as it looks like harvey norman are still offering this price) https://www.harveynorman.com.au/google-pixel-3-64gb-just-bla…

JB Hi-Fi will price match Harvey Norman and then if you trade in an old phone you can get the Pixel 3 for $599.

The sales assistant was pissed but they honoured the deal. The first store I tried said no. Goodluck. Be nice because JB Hi-Fi are definitely losing money on this one.

edit: I almost feel guilty for sharing this. I'm guessing whichever sales people that honour the deal might get in trouble later. The stock should be all gone before end of the day.
edit2: This is the Pixel 3, not the Pixel 3A
edit 3: this might be better suited for the forums than the deals page as it's not guaranteed to be honoured. Sorry if shared in wrong place

    • Curious about this too!

    • Just went to a store in Myaree, and was told trade in offer was only one day yesterday.

      • Its uo to 29th May 2019, did you manage to get one anyway?

        • I didnt get it. I dont see the promotion online or at the store? Maybe they pulled it …

    • Just got mine from JB Hi-Fi carousel. Asked them to price match HN, traded my old phone to get the $350 credit. If you are on an outed phone plan, you might want to sign up for a 24 month Telstra plan (80Gb unlimited calls and texts) for another extra $500 credit.

    • +1

I just got this deal from JB HiFi in Whitfords City.

Traded a 2008 Nokia that was pushing the definition of "smart phone".

      Staff were very good.

      • haha nice!

      • Also got this done at Whitfords City, WA. Ask for Maree as she seems to know how to put it through!

  • No deal available at JB Broadway Shopping centre.
I went to JB Oxford St and picked up a Pixel 3 XL 64 GB for $749.
A female shop assistant and the store manager looked after me and they were super nice!

    • hey could you pm your receipt? I live near JB oxford

  • Works at JB Hi Fi Cockburn! Questionnaire is annoying but got there eventually. Traded in iPhone 4. Thanks for the tip with using untitled handset!

    • Is there any chance that you could PM me a copy of your receipt?

      • Sorry just saw this. Pming now

    • Store at Garden City will only do price match or trade in. But store at Myaree happy to do both so I got it there. Saved me a drive down to Cockburn. There was a question about whether the system will accept my OnePlus 3 phone, considered an overseas phone but it went through fine. Phew!

      • Hey Viirgon, can you send me a copy of your receipt please?

  • Thanks again to the OP. This is a crazy saving. Cheaper than 3a RRP.

  • I just got a white Pixel 3 at JB Hi-fi (Strand Arcade) for $599. Seemed like they're familiar with that HN listing and have done that price match before.

  • Managed to get it at JB Malaga, combined HN price match, trade-in and $400 GC port-in. Price of Google Pixel 3 at $199. Thanks OP

  • got the $599 deal but curious about if I was to request a refund, would they refund me the $950 or just the $599?

    • curious too

  • Just ran down to JB Hi-Fi in South Wharf/DFO, Victoria.. It's a no go.

Salesmen told me that the trade-in applies to specific phones only. I had a Nexus 6p and that seemed to be all good.

However they have been told by head office to not stack the price matching with the trade-in, Funny enough the salesmen said it was because due to this post on OzBargain.

It's either price match or trade-in.

FYI, They offered me $350 for my Nexus 6p on the condition that there is no dints, scratches or cracks.

I just went to the JB Hi-Fi at Melbourne Central and they did the deal for me.

Handed in a Alcatel U5 3G that I bought from Coles just before hand and they accepted the $350 trade in.

      • Nice!

      • I just got back from the Bourke Street store and no luck there (Manager said "You cant stack both offers, if other stores did it then they did it wrong"). Should have tried at Melbourne Central as well.

Will try to do so after work. Can you do me a solid and PM a copy of the receipt mate?

      • +1

        Mitch you're a bloody legend!!

As soon as I read your comment I ran straight down to Melbourne Central JB and they did it for me no dramas! I also called Burke St JB and they said they wouldn't stack offers too!

PEOPLE! GO TO MELBOURNE CENTRAL! They will do it and you can get it $200 even cheaper if you sign up to a Telstra plan!

        • Can we have your receipt copy?

        • I can only make it to Melbourne Central tomorrow, hopefully they haven't pulled the deal by then. I've been there before and most staff know about Ozbargain.

        • Just wanted to say thanks for your message, I was disheartened by all the trouble people had that I was about to give up on this but managed to get to Melbourne Central and picked up a Pixel 3 XL 64gb for ~$250 after all said and done, last one they sold yesterday. Very happy, cheers!

          • @bigtom_999: do you mean HN price match and then -250 after that?

            • @MrBillions: Actually I wasn't very clear: I pricematched HN to $1098, traded an LG G4 for -$350, signed up to the telstra number port plan for -$500 bringing the total to $248. I had $1.82 on a gift card so grand total I paid was was $246.18. You could argue that I have to pay the telstra plan which is $65p/m for 12 months: you can cancel the plan for a fee of around $390 though and people have mentioned that if you want to keep the plan you can potentially get a better deal through the online chat. If I was to just cancel the plan today, I would have paid $246.18 + $390 = $636.18 all together. Hope that's clearer!

      • Legend!! Managed to snag a Pixel 3 in white from the Melbourne Central store (the last black one sold out just 5 min before I got there apparently). The sales person was real nice. He said it was the 4th one he put through today.

Traded in an old Nexus 4 that was lying around with a kinda faulty power button.

        • +1

Pretty sure I was being served right behind you. That makes me the 5th for the day :)

I was pleasantly surprised to find an additional $90 off for "telco trade in" when they rung it up.

I had given up on this deal after being knocked back 3 times. Thanks for the tip about Melb Central mitch2233.

          And thanks OP!

        • Also gotta add those guys at Melbourne central were awesome. No trouble whatsoever honouring the deal.

  • Solid deal for Pixel 3, for those who wanted it. I tested out the camera in store, and I was amazed by the result. I will wait for a good deal on Pixel 3a XL as I heard that pixel 3 have bad battery life and no headphone jack.

  • No luck in Brisbane central, can't stack the two.

    • Try the branch at MacArthur Central. I picked one up at lunchtime.

      • Thanks, will give them a ring.

      • I just rang & was told by "Tim" that it's one or the other…
Then he checked further & said actually they can't do the price-match (1099) at this time.
BUT they can do a trade-in for 350 (ANY ph, so long as screen isnt smashed & it still powers up).
That gets it down to 999 Vs 1099 for the price-match, sux I can't stack like others here have! :(

        • Will upload receipt later, managed to combined the HN Price match, trade-in and port in

          • @AirJordan23: Yep same, called them back & all was sorted, they told me the $400 port in was for 12 months, but after it was all set-up;
            They mentioned 24 mths & I said; "Wait, when I called in it was 12mths & 60GB/mth not 40GB?"
They said to get the $400 credit (not $300 for 12mths) it has to be 24mths, & then you get 80GB /mth (inc. bonus).
I was a bit miffed but agreed to proceed, still pretty damn good, Pixel 3 XL 64GB for $249 is nuts.
Not the "best" value plan (not "horrid"), but I'll see if I can worm my way out after 12mths for $0, or side-grade to one of TS's other offerings.

            • +1

@jughed: Yeah that's right, really hard to pass on this deal. Enjoy the new GP3XL

  • Thanks OP worked for me in WA
Team were awesome and said the $350 for the phone trade in will be reimbursed to the store from Google and they were happy to price match.
    Cheers mate

    • Cheeky buggers, so there's no reason why they can't do both! Told me they can't do both:
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/459073?page=1#comment-7318…

      • yeah my understanding is they send the phone to google and get $350
they are essentially selling the phone at RRP $1199 as they will get $350 back from Google.

        • -2

          Uh wot!
          Chrome history
          Google mini
          Google home
          Google pay
Is that not enough data on my life?
Now they want my old phone?? =O
Actually.. is that the worth of my history?? How… cheap :/

  • Interesting to note that in recent days, there have been a bunch of discounts on the 3 and 3XL around the world. In the UK, it has become available on a number of lower-cost plans, and some are even including the OEM wireless charger.
In India, the price dropped by about 30 percent.
That puts it quite close to the 3a in price…

    • Pixel line up are not doing well in sales as they can't compete with other flagships given their price point. That's why there are lots of good deal for Pixel 2 and 3 around the world. I think their 3a series is a good move from them to provide a midrange phone with a flagship camera.

  • apparently it has to be unlocked?
that's what I got told by staff

    • +1

How do they know? At oxford street store they only check if the phone is working with no crack, they don't bother to put in a sim card

      • they said they'll insert a SIM

  • Thanks OP. I tried one store (Cannington in WA) and they said one or the other. I then went to the carousel store and the people there were fantastic. I stacked the offers.

They have limited supplies so I had to get the XL rather than the 3 I originally wanted. Still, it's a massive discount.

  • Oh no, it's back to normal price at Harvey Norman. Missed out by a day :(

    • Today was my only time off work and was planning to head to JB :(

      • Same.

    • Just wondering if you could price match this price https://www.becextech.com.au/catalog/googlepixel3-64gbwht-in…

      • Worth a shot. It doesn't say if it's imported or not.
        Gotta love Staticice!

      • I think generally the rules are that it has to be from a physical brick and mortar store and currently be in stock in that store. I think becextech is online only?

      • Fair enough but worth a try though, you never know.

      • That's not Australian stock, so I doubt they will match it.

      • No luck. I got the Pixel 3A instead at Melbourne Central.

    • Now is your chance! Harvey norman Pixel 3 are on sale, its even cheaper now

  • I returned my Huawei P30 for a full refund in the light of the US ban. I am using the Pixel 3 as my main phone now.

Not hating on the deal but just a comment on the Pixel 3 as a phone:

IMHO the P30 is a much better phone. MUCH better battery life, better screen (larger and almost edge2edge, better camera, better and more user friendly gestures.

Even though I don't care much for hardware, the P30 hardware is also better speced.

  • Will they consider Nokia Asha 300 as a smart phone?

  • Since the trade in deal is on now on JB, but there's no Oz store that can be used to pricematch currently, can we try pricematch with grey import?

  • This deal is over now right?
