I got a V30+ earlier in the year in the JB sale, and I'm very pleased with the battery life of it - I can forget to charge it overnight and easily get through the next day with power to spare.
battery life is fantastic (V30)
I usuallly get 65 hrs of SOT from my V30+ which is pretty darn good.
C'mon, I find 65 hours very hard to believe, are you missing a decimal point in there?
Damn.. my not so fat fingers :D
@AMelbournian: I'm going to guess you meant to type 6.5 hours ;)
@Nathan Siv Yes, I was. I don't play any games though, apart from Sudoku. my usual usage include Youtubing, social media, reading lots of articles and of course, browsing ozbargain ;)
Listening to music on bluetooth for 1 hour takes 12% of the battery. So i think its pretty good, doing nothing and leaving it on standby it lasts for about 60 hrs for me.
Whilst a bigger battery would be nice, my V30+ battery lasts for ages. I remember Google Assistant glitched out once and didn't let my phone go to sleep and so my display was on overnight; ended up getting 7 hours SOT.
come on v30+…u can go <$400 before EOFY
Was 448 delivered earlier this week so we can only hope
i want to buy it for <400 so i can later claim the GST when i travel in july :)
I got my V20+ for $412 delivered & have been very happy with it.
I'll upgrade if it gets under $400 ;)@GoonerAR: so u might be missing the secondary screen i guess once u upgrade.
For those worried about updates. I have a JB purchesed V30+ and had an update last night. Android Security patch level = 1 April 2019.
Been a great phone so far. Battery Life is excellent.
how long you have it? do you have any issue with it. i have V20 with LCD ghosting and CPU slow problem, not sure if i want to buy LG again
All my LG LCD phones have exhibited ghosting. V2 CPU issue due to poor quality thermal paste. My V30 has been rock solid 5 months in. It's OLED, screen is fine and it's still snappy
6 months in
No issues…although i'm not too picky with phones. Just after the value prospects when it comes to buying. For me they have to work well for the main daily tasks and this phone is solid. Every phone has small pitfalls. EG the front camerea is pretty average….but I don't care for selfies)I am over a year in, almost 18 months. Its been fine. Almost never have a problem. I did eventually drop it in the road and the corner is cracked, but not gettinf in the way of using at all.
Occasionally I have somryhing go a bit slow or freeze, but i have been super lazy, the phone is full, and I need to backup and clear my crap. I fully expect this rare issue to disappear altogether when i do some very basic housekeeping.
Wide angle camera rocks, wiuldnt but a phone without it, which is very limiting ATM. Anyone complaining about anything really needs to get iut more (aside from the selfie cam, its ok but if you are one of those crazy selfie people look elsewhere)
Thanks for the comment. I just checked mine and the Update is available
What was the patch previous to this update?
Previous update was to Feb 2019 security level. I don't get the shade being thrown by so many "sick of LG lack of updates", their criticism for this model is unfounded.
It may be better for this model, but LG in general have historically been simply woeful for security & OS updates. E.g. LG G4 released April 2015, most recent security is update Aug 2016, so 1 year 4 months of security updates, then nada. They also said they would release Android 7, but then did so only in one market (Poland), and nowhere else, so it's not upgradable without a lot of faffing about if you're outside Poland. And then they abandoned it.
So I hope LG have gotten better, but since this phone is only 1 year 9 months old (released Aug 2017), you really won't know until the phone is 2 or 2.5 years old how much better. Furthermore, Android in general is way behind iOS in this regard - e.g. 3 years of security & OS updates would be excellent for Android (e.g. some OnePlus devices and Pixels are in this category), whereas several years ago iPhones moved to 5 years of security & OS updates.
How many updates did you get since purchasing the phone?
I think I have had 4 updates over the last year, from powering it on until now
That's pretty good. My LG G4 had one update and that was to MM. No security updates what so ever.
V30 is on the Google Enterprise recommended list so will get updates regularly for 2-3 years.
Never heard of this list, good to know. We usually keep ours 2 to 3 years depending in whether they have developed and issue or become damaged
Thank you for that feedback. I have one to pick up and have been reading up on it. Does that mean you now have android 8.1?
V30+ is a 2017 phone it should be at least 350$/399$ by now 458$ too much
Dollar sign before the digits.
Why? It's just OzBargain comments. As long as I get my point across that's all that matters.
your absalootly write
Wow. Such ignorant. Very silly.
Just received a security update on my V30+ yesterday. So far so good.
My current v20 has ghosting. Id like to update but the ghosting is very obvious now.
I thought there was no such thing as ghosts?
This is an OLED screen. I haven't seen any issues on mine.
saw on reddit burn in issue after a year
Yeah oleds is definitely susceptible to burning in. My view is that LG screens (for phones) are amongst the worst.
I have used my v30+ solidly for the last year, no burn in. Running the AOD constantly, phone is still awesome.
@[Deactivated]: Do you know if they shift the position of the AOD?
@giventofly: yes - it moves up and down
Have had mine over a year no issues
Mine V20+ has minor ghosting issues.
Will it get worse & do all LCD phones be this problem with age?mine get worst, i use bluelight filter app to minimize it
I've had a Moto G5 that did it. My V20, two LG V6 both did it. I've never had this issue on any other phone.
@ GoonerAR: Just give up buying a Slab of beer for the next week or two and buy it now?? You wont regret it
My V20 has ghosting, but it's really not too bad most of the time. Has been pretty solid apart from that. Solid enough that I can't really justify upgrading, especially since I have a spare battery.
I'm holding out until I can get an LG G7 for close to $400 (they can be had for $500ish in these sales). For the combo of specs and features (especially if you care about music) I don't know of anything close in the price range.
I literally just received the $20 replacement battery for my LG V20 I got 3 years ago, still going strong apart from the original expanding battery. Should be good for another 2 years :)
yes, same here - my v20 is just so so good as a top quality music machine, and does great video and sound recordings as well - recorded a night performance last night that turned out comparable to the pro videocam doing it, with my 4k footage being used as some b-roll filler etc.
Really tempted with the v30+ prices, curious about G7 tho - some reviews says G7 camera(s) not as good?? is there a credible comparison test G7 vs v30?They are very similar. I too have had a good exoerience with my v30 recording, was at a concert and sounded like a professional recording, down to the earpiece becoming the mic when the phone detects that the usual mic would be overloaded
Any tips for recording at concerts/festivals?
My vids were fine when i was a fair distance away but when I got closer to the stage, I got bad audio distortion.
I'm looking to move mum from a Moto G4+, anyone have an opinion on the Q7 and whether I'd actually be upgrading?
Definitely not a worthy upgrade, if any IMO. LG isn't much more powerful and their version of Android comes with a lot more bloat than the Moto.
all phones, and computers, have bloat. I spend quite a while tidying phone or computer up, then nailing it down security wise. Most of the security issues are with google and microsoft themselves - they are both great spies.
If wonder iftheir physical store (mobile citi) will match their ebay's price?
LG phones are an ozbargainer favourite. I like to watch the prices even if I'm not needing one at this time.
Buying 12-18 months behind the release dates is the way to go. LG is the best prospect for this type of saving.
Very close to the top of the line phones. I could never justify spending +$1000 on say a recently released S10, when I can be patient and get an LG V40 for $450 in 6-9 months time, with similar specs to the $1000 S10.
$450 delivered at kogan this weekend (I can't believe I said that)
(they also seem to have 3 v30+ models listed at various prices (?)What's LGs business model in Oz? I don't see any carrier deals with their phones, are they just outright product sellers nowadays.
It breaks my heart that the V series have such small batteries.
