    No TETRIS ??

    • +10

Who needs Tetris or mario when you have classics like BOX or RESCUE KUCK

      • +2

& even more classics like…DEJECTILE, POWERPULL GIRL & ASSART.

        HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

    AV Inputs?

Do TV's even have these anymore?

Its cheap, but you can see why.

Do TV's even have these anymore?

      Mine does…

    PUZZLE is my favourite.

  • +11

Bought one of these from JB for five bucks a while back because the 3 year old was with me and thought it would be fun and I'm like kiddo I know these games, every single one of them will be trash but she wanted it anyway, so I got it, five bucks, big whoop, right?

Wrong. It was an absolute waste of five bucks. Trash games. Trash controller. Trash cable that barely locks in and wigles around way too much. And not just that, but the kiddo got bored after half a minute and dropped it so it's not even in use. You'd do much better to buy one of those NES clone things on eBay in the same kind of form factor for <ten bucks.

    • +2

Can you provide a link to the nes clones on ebay ?
      Thanks.

      • +1

just search "Pi console" on ebay
you can play more games than nes..

or build your own pi console.

        • +1

Yep but Building your own PI for retro pie etc you end up more around 50-80 bucks mark.
If you really use it, def worth the extra $$$.

I did it a about a year ago. All instructions are on the internet.
Pi was about $30, housing $10, Power block $10 and than $5 per controller + SD card.

Thousand of games you can download. I play mostly Bomberbman with the kids, they love it as much as we used to.
And the big advantage with the PI you can use up to 4 controller without any extra hardware required

          • @BlueDiesel: yeah but in the long run it will still work out cheaper and get you more games than buying these
separate Sega, nintendo and sony consoles

BTW with the controllers are they wireless or wired?
do you got link for the controller you bought?

Does the wireless controllers work well with pi console?

            • @pinkybrain: If you are making a retropie console with a Pi then they are compatible with a lot of controllers. Xbox wired controllers (wireless need a Xbox adapter), Playstation wired/wireless (uses inbuilt Bluetooth) and a bunch of other controllers (I use a combo of cheap third party ps3 controllers and 8bitdo Bluetooth controllers

            • @pinkybrain: Yep as I said, if you really know you are going to use it (more than once) it is worth the extra money as you can emulate NES, SNES, SEGA, Gamboy, C64, Amiga ….games.

I have bought a couple of cheap $5 "NES" USB controllers from ebay that work fine (sore thumbs, just like in the old days).
But you can use pretty much any USB controller. It has 4 USB ports standard.
But the PI also has Bluetooth and while I have not tried any pads I have a keyboard and mouse hooked up.

          • @BlueDiesel: Bomberman 64 is awesome. Best game, don’t know why they can’t make a good remake and keep making 2d games instead

            • @SlappersOnly: I am pretty sure Bomberman 64 was also the first 3D version. Because we always used to go back to the SNES for Bomberman as we did not like the "new" version. But the other advantage on the SNES was that you could connect up to four players with the special adapter.

They recently had (with games for gold or gamepass, not 100% sure) Bomberman for Free on the XBOX. And even though it is kind of 3D it is really good. I love to play it with the kids. Biggest advantage compared with the PI is the precise controles and not having sore thumbs after an hour or so. But we still keep going back to the old versions in between.

      • Here, this one is 7 bucks, mine was like 3.50 so wait on a sale if you want, but I have one of these and it's fine. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Mini-Video-8-Bit-89-Retro-Classi…

Still uses AVs, so obviously the picture is ass, but it's got the original Super Mario Brothers, Donkey Kong, and about 150 odd other NES games. A lot of shit ones, obviously, but on my one from memory there's a solid 30 odd classics like the two I just said, Excitebike, Kung-Fu, Space Invaders, Dig Dug, Pac-Man, Galaga, and so on.

My honest opinion though, spend a bit more and pickup a BittBoy or similar device. They have a gorgeous little 2.5 (ish, it might be 2.4, I forget) IPS screen and the battery lasts for ages. They also (most of them anyway, can't speak to the lot) have TV out on them so they can be used the same as these ones.

    • Yep fully agree with you. Got the same one from JB for $5. Junk. Lots of mucking around trying to get it to work on a modern TV, too.

  • They've excluded Mario!!!

    • +1

I think they are just knockoff games. ie. instead of Space Invaders, it is Sky Invaders

      • +2

lower altitude because spaceship has less power (AAA's)
        .

  • Nasty.

  • fruit gift is my favorite game!

  • Looks crap

  • +3

Already received my SNES mini from last amazon deal and in the middle of replaying Zelda link to the past

  • Aren’t these at JB for $5.00?

That’s what I paid from them a month ago. Still sitting in the ‘I will never use it drawer’

    Edit. TLDR

  • First experienced in 1978, my old favourite MOWING.
Just a few years later, my unfortunate NUT CRACKY.

  • 10x the price (in USD), but this may interest some people:
