    Price in title please.

  • Anyone have any coupons to reduce price?

    • Lenovo's coupons usually don't work for accessories.

Other coupons have been published here and are usually promoted on Lenovo's website.

On a related note, the standard AC adaptor seems very cheap at $30.01.

Fake ones on ebay generally go for $12-$25, so $30 for a genuine one is a great deal.
One of my fake ones have died, and my friend's fake one got hot and "blew up". Brr.

  • the large lenovos need a 90w pack

65w is fine for netbooks and sub 14s

i was surprised as my Edge 15 complains when i use a 65w

    • *hugs my x-series :)
netbooks are probably fine with their 30W adaptor, which costs $45. haha…

    • and some of them even need a 135w pack!

I have a T520 which shipped with a 135w adapter. I've used a 90w on it and haven't noticed any difference in performance - however this is based on very subjective and non-thorough testing.

I have heard that some of the thinkpads will silently perform throttling of cpu/gpu if they are plugged into adapters with insufficient power - while others will simply refuse to charge. Again, have not confirmed this so it may be hearsay.

      • Unless you have a W520 in which case you will need the 170W brick

        • I have a spare 170w (genuine, new) I got by mistake. It doesn't fit my W510, its for a W700/710 which has a different plug. Let me know if anyone need one cheap ;-)

      • that is so true adante… so this adapter is obviously not for you…

    • Since you guys are discussing it, I figure I may as well ask.

I've got a laptop that's got a 65W power supply. What would happen if I was to plug say a 75 or 90W supply into it?

Should work fine as long as the voltage is the same - older Thinkpads were 16 volt where as the newer ones are 20 volt. Other manufacturers are different as well.

        • yeap the 16 volt Thinkpads were IBM Thinkpads and the 20 volts are the Lenovo Thinkpads.

T43, X41, R52 were the last one to use 16 volts power adapter.

    • Lenovo Thinkpads use different adapters from the Ideapad and G series range.

      For Lenovo Thinkpads:

-65 watt are fine for X, Z/R/T/SL/L/Edge series with integrated GPU (i.e. Intel).

-90 watts are fine for X, Z/R/T/SL/L/Edge series with integrated or discrete GPU (T520 with quad core i7 requires 135 watt adapter) and W500.

-135 watts are fine for all X, Z/R/T/SL/L/Edge series, W500/510 <— but not sure if anyone wants to carry that.

-170 watts are fine for only W520.

-W70x/ds thinkpads use a different power adapter all together.

      • 90w also works fine to run my W510 (i7 Quad), but i think it has trouble charging the battery while powering the machine under load. I use it as a second travel charger.

        • when you use the 90 watt adapter on the W510, the CPU would throttle back.

Also, there are two types of 170 watts adapter, one for W520 and one for W700, they are not the same. Lastly, the W701 uses 230 watts adapter.
