  I just purchased one for my mum as she's always jealous of how tidy my freezer is so she was going to buy a $250 Sunbeam from HN. I've played with an expensive one and I couldn't see any difference at all between it and my old el-cheapo target one so hopefully I'm saving her some $'s (assuming she ever uses it).

  Anyway, if you sous vide or just like having a nice tidy freezer and meat/fish with zero freezer burn then this is a great investment.

    The sunbeam fresh saver line includes reusable, vacuum ready ziplock bags. They are fantastic for keeping food fresh without resorting to single use bags. They also have vacuum sealed containers that you can reuse infinitum.

        The sealer needs to have a tube/accessory port to connect to these bags and containers. I'm actually using a breville fresh keeper, which includes a tube for it's own containers but it works with the fresh saver line as those containers include an adapter.

        I use it for all our cut fruit and vegetables and they last at least 3 to 4 times longer than when placed in open air (in fridge). Haven't needed to use the single use, permanent seal type of bags for over a year.

        You can get a battery powered fresh saver unit from amazon for about $30 that works with these zip lock bags out of the box. It doesn't have the hot seal feature, but that's not an issue for my needs.
