its the cheapest IPS panel at 144hz in Australia with adaptive sync.

It has mixed reviews which you can see here but overall i think it's worth it, especially since it's confirmed working with gsync.

Could be wrong but isn't this fairly expensive for a monitor which is only 27" and has Freesync @ 144hz?

Edit - just realised it has Gsync, never mind! Probably put that in the title so we see straightaway.

    Good price for Gsync :)

    • It's a 1440p 144hz IPS monitor with FreeSync. It's not expensive, but it's also kinda basic for an IPS from a gaming perspective.

      Solid all-round monitor though.

    • can you show examples of 27" monitor with same framerate and resolution that is cheaper? thanks

    • +2

IPS bro ! Not your usual TN or VA 144hz

  • this or the one from kogan though…

    • Kogan one does not have Gsync, would reccomend to go with this one if it's one or the other. Worth keeping in mind it seems to be low quality though.

      • Freesync, just proven to work with Nvidia's cards (where they like to call it g-sync, despite it not having the module for g-sync)

    • This, or the CHG70 from Samsung.

Alternatively wait around for more and more HDR400, HDR500 and HDR600 monitors that will offer even better performance.

        HDR400 is basically nothing

        • +1

If they did the bare minimum to reach the spec, sure. But if it's a 10-bit (or 8-bit + FRC) panel that has 90% DCI-P3 or higher and actually produces HDR content despite no backlight array, that's still a step up from a basic TN or IPS panel.

They need to revise the HDR400 spec for sure, but not in the way suggested by the article from TFTCentral that you're parroting.

          • +1

            @jasswolf: They're correct.

It is impossible to do HDR on IPS without full array local dimming and that costs a lot.

            • @Diji1: I never said it was true, full HDR.

These kind of monitors are way above sRGB spec and that is worth distinguishing, especially at the same price point.

          • @jasswolf: Based on some comments on Reddit from owners, this has 10bit colour at 120hz so if you like editing its worth it.

            • @Silent-zai: It also has a lot of QA issues regarding flickering, and colorimeter testing has shown that 8bit+FRC is virtually indistinguishable from 10-bit (they read the same).

So for IPS, unless you're going to get a proper HDR implementation (HDR600 or higher), it's probably OK to settle for a HDR400 panel that's 8-bit+FRC and properly calibrated.

  • Depending on what you are after, this might be better

    • samsung one is VA panel, and no Freesync FYI

      • Again, that's a class-leading VA panel, at least pending newer releases in the second half of this year.

That and the 27" CHG70 are worthwhile purchases.

    • can agree some reviews are bad but you can return the monitor if you find any quality issues within 30 days.

  • This or the dell U2718q?

    • This one for gaming - Freesync, 144 Hz, 2650x1440 pixels. The lower resolution means you can drive higher frame rates.

The Dell is 4K (3840 x 2160 pixels) at 60 Hz and would be better for almost anything non-gaming. I'm very happy with my older model Dell Ultrasharp monitors.

      • cheers!

  • 1 ms? For real?

Is this on nVidia's list of supported G-sync monitors?

    • +1

Not for real. The "1 ms" is with strobing which disables FreeSync and lowers brightness (by a lot).

  • No stock left. Got a message saying there's an extended delay in delivery. ETA in August. For some reason the Ebay listing still say it is in stock and more than 10 available.
