  • I bought Far Cry 2 in a different steam sale. Good value for $5. :)

Same here, The first one is also worth it if you have not played it or you are a fool like myself who likes padding out their steam games list with as many games you are incredibly unlikely to play as possible

  • FC2 is a great game, the only thing that stopped me playing was the amount of respawning. it's the one thing stopping me from enjoying it.

just think of them as reinforcments that look and act exactly the same as the people they are reinforcing!

This was what turned me off the game. You destroy a checkpoint and then come back through it soon after to find it repopulated. Surely they could have created a better method like actually having the reinforcements drive from the enemy base or something like that.

      • I still love this game but can't play it for hours at a time because the mechanics of the game can really annoy me(re-spawning checkpoints, constant vehicle patrols, excessive driving sequences). However, at its most brilliant, you will experience a great vast open world Sahara/jungle environment which you can roam around in and blow things up. Just don't let the tedium of missions get to your head :)

    • every person in the map wants to kill you, i was kinda disgusted that the developers decided to put you in hell, like how Doom was but Doom was awesome thanks to BFG and shotguns that don't need shell reloading

the first FarCry is real classic. A lone Hero in bright Hawaiian shirt, shooting his way to glory and freedom! Oh Yeah!

FC2 is really a terrible game by comparison. The only thing I think it is good for is benchmarking your graphics card.

Harsh review but I do agree in a way. Many games that came out around this period (07-08) really pushed the limits of computer graphics and the engines behind them were simply amazing but the gameplay and fun factor really suffered as a result. UT3, Assassins Creed 1…all so boring and repetitive but brilliant tech showcasing the engines.
