      I need some apps that have not been updated for iOS 11 support.

      Apple doesn't allow downgrading.

      I bought a Pro 10.5 which had iOS 10, but I mistakenly updated it to 12 when it auto downloaded. Now it's a paperweight.

        Which apps? There might be more modern alternatives.

        I too find it annoying when an app drops off the update cycle and/or the App Store.

        Usually, it's because better apps have emerged in the same segment which have simply out-competed it.

        But some are great apps which didn't have enough interest to keep them going.

          If I knew they'd be incompatible I would not have updated my Pro.

  Why did they go back to the iPad Air moniker? I'm pretty cluey in tech but their naming convention really confuses the hell out of me.

    It sits somewhere in between iPad 2018 and iPad Pro in class, but I agree the large range is going to get confusing for people.

      It's not like a Macbook range where there are visible differences between an Air, Macbook 12 and Macbook pro 13 /15. iPads all look the same bar screen size. lol

        The Air has a laminated screen with true tone which is better than the 2018 but doesn't have the 120hz of the Pro.

        Also doesn't have the quad speakers and better camera of the Pro or as much storage.

    It's probably like cars: people get an attachment to a certain name, marketing picks up on this, so they use it again and again. It's like the Toyota Camry of iPads.

          @Crocfreefree: The problem with that analogy is that the iPads all have the same body, while these Toyotas clearly don't.

          The features that distinguish the iPads are a lot more subtle.

            (Although the 2018 iPad Pros look and feel quite different from all the other rounded iPads. Wish the 2019 mini had been given their styling.)

            Anyway, current tablets are basically just sheets of black glass. An iPad or a Galaxy Tab or a Star Trek PADD. At 5 metres they all look pretty much the same.

            When we get transparent, flexible displays, a la The Expanse, then they can start having more character.
