It bothers me a bit that this is advertised as a 45w usb-c powerbank, yet it can't give my lenovo 20v at 2.25A

Guess standards probably need to be sorted out

    • I thought lenovo does their proprietary charging port, interesting finding though, how does it performs on other aspects may I ask?

      • Its a Lenovo Yoga 720, charging is USB-C

        • "Matt" Unfortunate for you if you purchased this as my Lenovo Thinkpad 11e 5th gen even charges with my Romoss SW20

which only puts out 18w, admittedly really slowly at only 4w. This unit does have a proprietary charging port, but alsoa usb c pd

port. Using a Cygnett 20000mAh pd battery does charge it much faster though, and the Kogan 26800mAh works really well

too. Have not got a Xiaomi pd bank to try yet.

          • @ozhunter68: Just to clarify, I checked the charging voltage when my above Thinkpad 11e charges through usb c with the

Romoss SW20 it is 12V @ 0.2A which is only a small 2.4w trickle charge but as I fully did not expect this battery

to charge it at all, a nice bonus and will charge it overnight if turned off.

Technically it is 45W, just not the voltage and amps you're after.

      15VπŒ‚3A, 20VπŒ‚2A, max 45W

      15V at 3A is 45W

      • Damn, just 0.25A shorted of what he needed! I guess as we get into this power bank charging laptop, figures do matter!
But PD specs does said 20V @ 2.25A though, so its kinda strange it does not charges his Lenovo.

Input yes, output no (it will charge quickly from my laptop charger, but not output the same)

yeah hence why i'd like to see a standard of what "45w output" is.

        • +1

I'm guessing you have the 15inch model? I have a Yoga 720 13 and it charges fine.

        • +2

          Under the USB-PD 2.0 standard 45W is 15V @ 3A while the USB-PD 3.0 standard allows for 20V @ 2.25A.

          • @Clear: Interesting, thanks for the tip

This thing works great with my Surface Pro 6. Look up J-Go tech and get a special USB-C to Microsoft proprietary charging cable from the U.S for about $45~ delivered and you’ll get about another 1.3x full charge - haven’t fully tested it yet but one full charge easily and at what appears to be the same speed as the stock wall charger. I can easily run my SP6 for 2 average working days. Fantastic powerbank. Bit clunky is it’s only downside. Build quality is great.

  • this is great pricing. nice powerbank but still loves zmi's quailty and better than plastic feel

  • Bought one from the last $68 deal.

Works great on an XPS 13 9360, and even though it says "Not charging as the charger input is too low", the laptop is able to pull about 30W (probably cause the battery was at 70% when I tried it, maybe it'll pull more when the battery level is lower, at like 20%) and charges just fine.

  • Gives only 40W to my Dell XPS 9370. Dell complains but does work off the charger. Laptop battery also gets charged but at a lower speed. Complained to Shoppro/Gearbite but no response.

Kogan's 26800 battery bank works fully fine, but is bulky, thats why I also purchased the Xiaomi

  • So this can charge and be charged via USB C?

    • yes

  • this works great on my dell inspiron 13 7000 purchased recently. great price. wow. would buy another one if my finger’s itchy…

  • bought one from the last deal. Works on my mac pro 13"

  • So how long would it take to charge one of these banks while travelling? Say via car charger?

    Cheaper… https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/456313

    • Recharge Time: 2.5hrs with 45W charger, 6 hrs with 9VπŒ‚2A charger or 10 hrs with 5VπŒ‚2A charger

  • I'm currently using the Xiaomi 10000mah unit and still going strong after 5 years !

  • Does this charge small devices well? E.g wireless mice, game controllers, bluetooth earbuds?

    • It'll charge anything that takes a USB cable.

      • I've got one and it seems to charge my Fitbit okay. I don't know about this "Double-press the button to enter low-power charging mode for 2 hours" feature, though. Pressing the button does show the current charge level on the device (1-4 lights), but pressing it twice doesn't result in the cascade light effect to indicate it's on a different mode. Pressing it once does allow the Fitbit to charge.

Finally got one of these - thanks OP.

-edit; forgot the discount. Someone please relieve me of my OzB membership

    • Your gun and badge, on my desk by the end of the day.

  • Anyone know if this will charge the Lenovo e480? (If specs matter: i5 8250, 16gb ram, rx 550)

  • This one shows as $59.99 with YAYMAY1 code

    I have ebay plus

I just purchased 2 with the new Phoenix code, $54.69 each
      (with eBay plus)

  • Same thing on eBay sell it for $12.56, is it the same power bank?

  • +1

Doesnt charge asus zenbook 3 12,5" that requires 45w.

    • +1

As per my same comment reply on other Xiaomi 3 Pro battery,…

"Along with the right amount of wattage and usb c pd the two also need to be compatible with the waats v voltage.

If your laptop needs 20V/45W this battery will not work as it is only 20v/2A ( 40w ), but can charge at 15v/3A ( 45w ).

I only worked this out too recently through reading comments from more knowledgeable people than me lol".

Thanks for adding your model laptop as that may be helpful to others rather than just making a vague public statement/complaint without any

details. I agree that this whole usb c PD charging with various voltages/wattages/PD versions is a bit complicated and

confusing to the average person to say the least lol.

      • +1

Thanks for that mate. Did a lot of research before buying but havent found this. Real confusing. So for the rest - does nit charge Asus Zenbook 3.

Eeek, mine arrives today, purchased it to replace my faulty aukey power bank to charge my surface Laptop 2, better work or I just through $60 in the bin :-/

(Aukey 26800 lasted 2 weeks before crapping out have 2 Xiaomi powerbanks that have been strong for years)

      • Did it end up charging your Surface laptop 2?

        • +1

Aus post moved the delivery to Monday :-(

          • @Soluble: Sure, keep us updated please.

            • @ozhunter68: Alright, you forced me to go spend another $20 On a usb c to usb c cable so I could test sooner(aukey came with one, this doesnt). Can confirm it charges the surface Laptop 2 no worries. I preferred the aukey one(was a 26800 and the flatter profile was a better fit for my bag).

              • +1

@Soluble: Thanks for reply, although you did not need to spend $20 on a cable fromlocal shop just to test for me/us here. I'd say you were pretty keen to test yourself and start charging your Surface Laptop 2 with this battery.

Yes, agree that often flatter profiles can work better for some cases, but not all. This should at least work well and keep going for years if you look after it. Is the Auckey under warranty locally,or bought from OS? Good news is that it charges your laptop :-)

                • @ozhunter68: Haha, was more tongue in cheek, the aukey was local from an eBay deal, returned and refunded by eBay no problems. It's worked out a bit cheaper than the aukey even with the cost of the cable so I don't mind. I do think its BS that this bank doesn't come with the cable needed to utilise it though.

It's also BS that I had to buy a USB C connector from MS to be able to use a powerbank for the laptop as well, but that's another story.

                  • @Soluble: Sure. I know what you mean, but hey, companies are in it for the money if they can get away with it, especially Microsoft and Apple. Luckily Xiaomi still provides good quality for decent prices, in future that might get more expensive though for the West at least.

Saw that Microsoft has their own charging port, at least it looks well designed and hopefully is less prone to breakage/failure from snagging the power cord.

I found this cable to work well for me so far, https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/457546

              • @Soluble: Just wondering which surface connector to USB cable you are using? I've looked online but cannot figure out if they are suitable for 44W power output.
