Xiaomi AI Xiaoai Smart Speaker (Chinese Mandarin Commands Only) $45 Delivered @ Ozymart

110

Guys,
We are clearing out these speakers. Chinese commands only.
They are still quite usable in Australia with some pause or delay to commands if no VPN is used.
The AI speaker can play music (QQ music is not supported), news, control some Xiaomi smart devices like robot vacuum cleaners, lights etc. The speaker and all the other devices need to be on Mainland China server. No coupon code is needed. Free delivery.
It is a real benefit if you can speak Chinese(Mandarin). There are many categorized free songs like "play piano songs", "play rap", "play songs by Adele" etc in Xiaomi music library. The smart home feature is useful if you have a lot of devices running on Mainland China server. You can use " turn lights on", "start to vacuum" etc. You can even find Chinese poems. It will benefit many active Chinese speaking Ozbargain members.

      or…

"hey google, translate "hey Xiaomi XXXXXXX" into mandarin.

    • +1

      Use your ScoMo voice.

One out of five stars. "If you don't speak Chinese then the Mi AI makes little sense" and "awful sound quality" - https://www.techadvisor.co.uk/review/speakers/xiaomi-mi-ai-3…

So it's 5 times as expensive as a google home mini and less usable?
    Bargain!

    • +1

Where can I get a Home mini for <$10?

      • I'm not sure if I'm allowed to cross link (sorry if I'm not), but it's something that I only learnt about as well!

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/455539

      • people are selling their codes that got for free from the Spotify promotion. I bought a few off redditbay $5 each. Also there a few people selling codes on ebay but more around the $15 last time I checked

    • To be fair, this is a speaker that plays music I believe. I don't think it is quite the same thing as Google's little nosy parker.

      • This is a smart speaker just as google home but in Chinese. I would say that it is more powerful than google if you can speaker Chinese. Since the copy right issue is not that serious in China, it contains a lot more free stuff than google home. Music alone, Xiaomi library contains much more free music than google.

      • If you scroll up, one of the reviews supposedly noted "awful sound quality", so I do think it's a fair comparison.

        • The sound quality is similar as google home and better than google mini.

  • I only speak Taiwanese, will it understand?

    • +3

It will, but it will only talk down at you.

      • +3

Maybe I will learn Hong Kong Cantonese instead and this device will just send my thoughts to the mainland and also vote on my behalf.

    • As long as it is close to Mandarin.

    • Is there even a Taiwanese language? Hokkien?

  • I have one of this and it works pretty well at controlling xiaomi devices. I use it everyday to dim my lights, turn on/off the lights, fan, power board, smart plug, lamp, play chinese news, ask for indoor temperature. It is very responsive and success rate is high. However, because the server is in China, it doesn't work well when you ask the time, weather, traffic, etc. So for those questions I would ask Alexa instead. In terms of playing music, both Xiaomi and Alexa are not great, Xiaomi can not play many chinese songs and Alexa can only play english songs. But suprisingly Xiaomi is able to play lots of Japanese and Korean songs which is a bonus.

    • Xiaomi music library actually does contain many English songs. Songs by Adele, Eminem etc. The point is to pronounce their name correctly.

    • how much you got it for ?

where does it retrieve the songs from ?

      thanks.

  • You can stream all these songs for free when the speaker goes online.

    • which songs ?

      • Whatever containing in the library. Like piano songs, morning songs, songs by Adele, Eminem etc. But you need to say it out in Chinese.

… and can also now be used on other Xiaomi phones with an update to the Chinese version of the MIUI software.

Is the app avail from Google play store?

Will it run on Mi A2 - android One ?

And, the "adapter included" means china power plug + AU socket adapter ?
or straight AU power adapter ?

          Thanks.

          • @dcep: It can be added to Mi home app which you can find in google play store.
It comes with Chinese 2 pins power adapter. Au socket adapter will be included.

    • It does not work in Australia, even she can't get the time correct.

      • What do you mean? It does work here in Australia.

        • Can you change the time zone to Sydney?

          • @Thbloke: Since you need to use Mainland China server so region can't be set to Sydney. Any time and weather related questions need to be more specific. Say" what is the weather in Sydney,Australia today" "what is the time in Sydney,Australia".

            • @ozymart: Sorry, it has to be used by a smart person.

  • Any deals on 2nd gen speaker?

    • Hi,

Sorry we didn't import that. This is just to clear the stock.

  • +1

Play Chinese National anthem every hour

  • —-The AI speaker can play music (QQ music is not supported)
how do you use it for music?

    • Xiaomi has its own online music library.
