Gigabyte GTX1050Ti 4GB OC Low Profile $159.20 + $15 Delivery (Free with eBay Plus) @ Computer Alliance eBay

760
PCOMP

Not a bad deal for a low profile 1050ti.

If you have one of the dell optiplex business machines with a 200w+ PSU, this can fit in. I bought this for around $220 a year ago and still can play FO4 quite nicely and overwatch as well.

From CA's website, it has a fortnite bundle

  • Any idea if that combo of Dell optiplex and this GPU could handle basic VR?
I have a windows Mr headset that runs poorly on my laptop.

    • If you mean the one that comes with a i5-4570 then yeah that should run VR just fine. Actually a great way of getting cheap VR.

      • +2

Depends on the title, demanding ones such as Fallout 4 VR won't run well at all on those specs.

        • Good point.

        • I'm not so sure about that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8lm7po7ZRtM

I'm running an i5-4570 and a 1060 6gb and I frequently max everything out on VR games with no problems at all. You might need to dial things back a bit on the 1050, but I reckon almost everything would run just fine.

          • @Payne: Yeah.. it runs, but it looks like it's running poorly tbh. That's not locked 90hz for sure, it's actually stuttering in that video and it's running a lower resolution and lower framerate than a lot of PC VR headsets. I upgraded my 1060 to 1080 because of Fallout 4 VR which yielded a huge improvement to frametimes, but it's still not perfect.

I have a i5 4670k @ 4.2ghz, 16GB DDR3 and a 1080, and it's still not enough for Fallout 4 VR to lock 90hz all the time, with demanding areas (most the game) causing re projection to kick in rather than a locked 90hz. With the 1060, if I went into super demanding areas such as The Institute, it couldn't even handle 45fps with the 1060 and it would turn into a VR slideshow.

            • @c0balt: Ah, ok cool. I wonder how it'd go if the visuals were dropped right back? Probably goes against the idea of making VR really immersive, but yeah, point taken :)

    • Someone shared their experience:
      https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.reddit.com/r/oculus/comment…

      Summary:
Yes its possible, and very enjoyable. In most games you'll set your game resolution to 70% and mainly get a smooth 90fps or you'll keep res at 100% and expect 45fps and it'll use asw to double the frames for a slightly less smooth experience.

  • What's the disadvantage of this one vs a full size card?

    • Cooling

      • Hence noise may be higher once the fan starts to kick in

    • +5

This is terrible vs value for money vs a 570 unless you can't fit a full size card or have a shoddy power supply

    • If you are overclocking, full size cards are the better option. There are very wide PCB busses that can benefit from the extra realestate and freedom. In general, low profile cards are designed for quiet and small situations at factory clocks. Most GPUs have a reference design from the graphics manufacturer. The low profile cards usually take that reference design and only target squashing it to size.

  • +2

    tempting but i shall resist

still waiting for LP version of 1650 / 1650 Ti / Navi

  • Just picked up this: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/133031730119 (Dell Optiplex 9020 SFF Desktop PC Intel i5 4570 8G 128G SSD Win 10 Pro)

Does it slot straight in or should I leave it to a professional?

    • +1

When I got my HP ProDesk from a deal here (same CPU), there's an existing GPU that I removed. The end of the PCI-express slot has a rubber / plasticy clip that holds the end of the GPU. If there's something similar, pull that prior to pulling the GPU.

Also, can't remember with the dell optiplex but the outside has a metal flap that needs to be lifted and unscrew the GPU as well.

The GPU also comes in with a default long bracket installed. Just have to swap that with the short bracket that comes included.

    • +5

      Slots straight in mate

      here's a video tutorial

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2w45ZOcXXzs

I did remember you need a pair of tweezers to change out the video card bracket from full size to small size

    • +1

Except it isn't in the 16x slot its in the 4x

  • Hmmm tempting to get this for my Gen8.

  • +2

im running one of these on an optiplex, the fan sounds like a plane, my wife says when I am playing games….bought it for 220 last year, definitely a great price

    • The fan is a big problem.

    • What is the card like noise wise when not playing high end games. Is it quiet?

  • I bought a GTX 1050 2GB for $148 a couple of days. Is it worth returning that and buying this instead?

    • +1

      Yes

      • +1

You've sold me. Buying it now.

  • There seem to be a few cards claiming to be GTX1050ti, popping up on ebay at around $70 - $80 price range.

Does anybody know how to tell if they are fake? The inclusion of a VGA port makes me skeptical

    • Yeah these are fake, I saw a YouTube video about it ages ago

    • Yes, I got caught with one of those. And I should have known better. The VGA port is the giveaway.

  • Great price! I sold mine (used) for $150 last month!

  • some optiplex will only accept single slot card so make sure to check…

the gtx 1650 replaces the 1050 ti but it seems they keep jacking the price: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gm7oyg_s-8k&feature=youtu.be…

    • In that video, he's complaining about the launch price being $10 higher than that of the 1050TI (he said 1050, but the graph showed a 1050ti, so I assume he meant that).
The 1050TI launched 3 years ago in the US for $110. I guess he hasn't heard of inflation…

Update: And then he's comparing it with Radeon RX cards, with a specific benchmark. Try running an OpenGL app like Cemu and even a 750ti will blow an RX570 out of the water.

(not that I could make a better youtube video than him, but he's declaring the 1650 "dead on arrival" based on not understanding inflation and comparisons with RX cards, which are only useful for running the most mainstream of games). He also didn't take into consideration the form factor (no RX570 in low profile) or extra PSU requirements for AMD cards.

Can i use this GTX1050Ti with the Dell Optiplex 9020 from the link below:
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/455363
Looking to use it as a HTPC, thanks!

  • I've got a GTX480 thats still going strong in my Intel QX9650 Extreme. I've also got a call dell optiplex 7060 i7. Is it worth putting the old QC9650 to rest and buying this card for the optiplex 7060?

    • Not only will it be significantly more powerful, it will use half the watts to do it both when at load and when idling. Potentially saving a chunk of cash spent on electricity bills depending on how much you game/leave the PC running.

  • This card has too much noise when playing some new games.

  • This is a great card to use for 4k UHD playback. It's good enough to do netflix in 4K HDR running windows 10. I'm getting one to drop into my htpc.

  • Do you get Fallout with the ebay deal?

  • I have one of these running with my hp elite. It's been a great device. Does everything I want it to except for emulating persona 5 on ps3.

But nowadays, you can get a rx570 build for 70 bucks more from techfast. Even it you don't think the performance upgrade is worth it, those are brand new pcs that are guaranteed to work. Psus in the old office ssf desktops tends to be a gamble, since they just barely have enough power to get the build to work. Atleast, that's what our predecessors said lol.

This is still the lowest cost option to pc gaming, and it's great.

  • Would this run on a 240w power supply with no issues?

    • Specs call for a recommended PSU of 300w
      https://www.gigabyte.com/au/Graphics-Card/GV-N105TOC-4GL#sp

      • +1

I think the reason for that was some PSUs are terrible in quality so they're trying to put max amount.

The GPU only runs in PCI-e power with no pins that means max output is 75w. an i5-4570 which is the CPU mosty in the optiplex is around 84w.

My PC is from the HP ProDesk 600 G1 deal which has a 240w PSU. I played fallout 4 and overwatch in medium to high settings 60fps from this.

        • Thanks xaykogeki, I also have a HP Prodesk 600 G1 so good to hear.

          • +1

@Mr Shooty: No worries. Not sure what else you plug in your machine so if you want, just double check just add it all up.

Mine are only the i5, gtx 1050ti, a single 256gb ssd, 16gb ram, the CD tray, mouse, keyboard. the rest all have their own power.

  • Is anyone able to describe the differences between this and the MSI GTX1050Ti 4GB Low Profile PCIe also available through this sale?

Are the dual fans likely to increase cooling performance and thus ameliorate some of the noise issues mentioned earlier?

Like others above, I am thinking of pairing it with the Optiplex 9020.

    • +2

I have both of them, one with a 9020 and one with a 9010. The difference of performance between them is negligible, but I would assume the one with dual fan may give you a better cooling performance. However, for both of them, the noise issues cannot be avoid when you are running some high-end games in medium setting, such as PUBG.

  • Whoa there!

If your Optiplex machine has a BTX motherboard (e.g. Optiplex 390 with Sandy Bridge) this graphics card WILL NOT FIT IN (you will need single slot solution such as a 1030).

Make sure the model you grab does not use BTX, as the double slot cooler will not fit. I have tried with the 390, 980, 990 and 9020, and so far only the 390 didn't work (but have heard that some variations of the other optiplex models might use BTX).

  • +1

I can confirm this is a great deal - works brilliant in my SFF Optiplex 9010.

I can also confirm that when you really put it under the pump, the reduced airflow in the case causes the fan to go supersonic!

What I've done is a simple 90mm meshed hole in the case, directly above the GPU, then hooked up an old case fan to USB for a slight airflow boost directly into the card's fan. It makes a significant difference to the temp (85 down to 75 degrees when at 100%) which means the fan isn't spooling up like a jet turbine anymore.

I just need to know how loud this card is when not under load for my daily office task or as a home theatre PC in the lounge room. Unlike you game nerds I have other things to do. Appeal to me is I can connect multiple 4K monitors for work or use it as a hometheatre PC. Would I be better off with a lower spec card? Which card game boys/girls?

  • Is the "Gigabyte GTX1050Ti 4GB PCIe Video Card PN GV-N105TOC-4GD" listed with Computer Alliance just the full size version of the same card?

Comes down to similar price and might be a good option if noise is an issue?

  • Excuse for my naive question! I have a Dell Optiplex 9020 PC and it has Intel HD Graphics 4600 video card. Is it worth to replace that with this Gigabyte GTX1050Ti 4GB OC low profile card? Experts advice please.

    • +1

Yes it is worth it if you want to play games and watch 4K movies

  • Order mine yesterday, and already arrived this morning. That was fast.

  • Any chance of a restock. Seems to be in stock on your website

  • Parcel arrived today. Thanks.
