they dont come any cheaper than 299$ (at this size & specs), perfect for bedroom use & get the flashy 3D TV for the lounge :)

Tried to post this at 5. All qld stores are not in till next week. Rang 6 stores only 1 which I went into knew what I was talking about. Some are there staff are so thick. Ahhhhh nah can't do that but can do for the 24inch

I just picked one up, it looks OK for a full HD TV, the colors are much brighter than some of the other low cost models on sale.
Anyone comparing this to a better quality TV is just being silly, I bought this as a replacement for the high def 32" plasma for the bedroom and the Soniq looks much better.
I find the picture quality of the Soniq TVs to rival the samsungs, but the sound is pretty terrible, really need to be hooked up to seperate speakers.

Watching a movie on this TV right now, it's a steal for $300 colour looks great and it has a fair few inputs (2x HDMI 1x VGA 2x component 2x composite) etc.. Only annoying part is the only audio output is a coaxial which my amp doesn't have :( (amp only has optical)
just bought one for the bedroom. really good value for $299. The USB playback works well just bear in mind the usb is located at the back of the tv and not on the side.
nothing a USB extension cable won't fix!

seems to sit at the middle of the pack in terms of energy usage according to the energy ratings website. Look for model no L32V11A-AU on page 3 of the results. It's ranked 135 out of 221 LCD tvs in the 70-90cm size range. Estimated cost of running at 10 hours per day for 10 years is $649 assuming 18c/kWh. Not sure who watches 10 hours per day but those where the default variables on the site (which you can obviously change but I didn't bother).

I got mine at the Maribyrnong store. On the poster they had it said Limited stock. I'd assume that these would sell pretty quick. Someone aforementioned that this store had 60 units.
Got it from Maribyrnong, when I rang the guy mentioned 60 units, but the OP mentioned he got it from Chadstone (Warrigal Rd) store, best to give your local JB a ring just to be sure.
I'm thinking of buying this 32" to replace a 24" 1080p BENQ Monitor currently hooked up to my PC, a TV Tuner as well as a PS3.
Do you guys think the 32" 1080p picture quality would be alright to handle this, and how far away do you think I will need to sit from the computer?
I also have a 24" 1080p BenQ monitor but im not sure if I should replace it with this, it might be too big to sit on the desk and use as computer monitor.
32" will hurt your eyes if you use it as computer monitor, instead of replacing 24" why dont you extend the monitors instead like i did, so u have both screens up?
the picture quality is alright to handle ps3, movies or tv, but not as good when you connect to a PC due to limited resolutions the TV can handle, im connecting with VGA cable atm and its a bit terrible (shadows and distortion), im hopping in future when i got a hdmi graphic card, it will look better.
Finally, you need at least 2m distance from TV i reckonYeah. I called up my closest 2 JB's (Leichhardt & Top Ryde, NSW) and neither had the Soniq on sale anyway.
Main reason is my limited desk space. Might wait for a better quality 32" deal to come up then. I've read its a pretty beast setup, and yeh the recommended distance is 1.2-1.5m.
Top Ryde definetly has a few-at least 4 on display.
I have a 24" DEll 1920x1200 LCD that I love dearly. However I wanted more real-estate without going dual monitor. So I bought it.
First impression was that text is terribad using DVI->HDMI. Swapped to VGA and it looks heaps better.
Haven't had much of a play but I'm quite happy so far - even plays MKV's from usb!I don't do much text stuff on my PC and haven't used it for very long so will post a better summary once I get back home. Wish I could knock off sooner… :(
alright guys stupid question, but will this TV fit in a mazda 3? im asking this because the doors don't open completely on the sedan unlike other models.

Excellent! The 178 degree viewing angle usually means it's a high quality panel i.e. not a TN screen.
I just picked one up from JB Melrose Park (SA). They had plenty left. Just set it up, slight (barely noticable) buzz sound when on blank screen but can't hear it when movie is going. Sound is average but I'm gonna hook it up to my stereo. Very happy with it for my bedroom tv.

Just tested out the USB playback capabilities, it is pretty impressive.

BTW, they were playing the Toy Story 3 Blu ray, which as expected for BR on Full HD lcd, looked very good! Not sure how this bad boy is with SD TV broadcasts. Perhaps someone with the unit can comment?
The reason I ask is I remember when I bought the ex-gf's 32" Pana 720p lcd we compared it side by side with the 1080p version and the 720p unit 'looked' much better for regular SD broadcasts.

I just purchased 3 of them for an EYE Finity setup on my PC.
Checked pixel clarity with my eye 6" from the screen looking at the popup menu to simulate computer clarity.
It was spot on.
drools I had a go on a rally game (i think it was dirt 2) on an 32" x 3 eyefinity setup while in KL - the pc shop guys had removed the lcds from their original housings and built a custom one to make it look like continuous screen - AWESOME!

Thats why I went there first and checked out what it would be like before purchase.
I had my eyes about 6" from the screen checking clarity and it was clean and sharp.
I sit about 2/3 metre away and it would be fine.

If your local store doesn't have stock yet - you can go there and pre-pay for it like I did. It guarantees you a unit, and they give you a phone call when it comes in.
Staff told me that this TV was going to be in the upcoming catalogue so there could be quite a bit of demand when stores get stock in.
Staff said 3 months swap warranty if something goes wrong then the rest of the year was repair warranty.
You can purchase more warranty of course and the price of the unit comes down.

No upsell for me, pretty much walked in, paid for it, picked up the TV from the floor and walked out the door (showing the reciept to the guy at the front). No salesman required.
Same. For some reason the register chick almost had a heart attack when I said I hadn't spoken with a salesman. She took a few seconds to work out what to do. Sounds like they are only at this price as they expect to be able to upsell you other stuff. She looked like she was about to call over a salesman before finally putting the thing through

Are you serious? They'd hardly be making anything on these and they will have no trouble selling all their stock within a few days. I would feel like an idiot asking for a better price. Although they may do some kind of deal you buy extended warranty.
well i asked anyway, and the answer was a polite no as it is on near cost, but if I want to buy anything else with it then that item will be discounted aka upsell. to be honest this is an awesome price, $299 for 32 inches of FULL HD with PVR (via usb). I dont expect you would lose much even if you sell it in a year should a better deal come along.
Does the PVR function allow EPG or timer recording?
I just picked one up on impulse this afternoon. They were priced at $296 at JB Hi Fi Penrith, and the salesperson said that cost price was $290 - he tried to upsell the extended warranty, which I expected but I'm taking my chances with the TV alone. For that price, I don't really mind if it breaks in a couple of years!

They are super light but if you hang it on gyprock you'll find it sitting on the floor sooner or later. You'll definitely need to find the studs.
