  • $449 at catch.com.au

    • really? We have 10% off catch at Woolies for that then

    • Isn't that the bebop 2?

      • My bad, it's the bepob.

  • Easy to fly. Hard to crash.

It's not very hands on. Drone happy to fly around you in circles automatically

I crashed mine first flight it had, went up a tree and tore the wing in half. Parts are crazy expensive/scarce but was able to repair it with UHU por glue. Point it wings are different to quads in that they don't hover, have a pause button and need room to circle. Allow at least 100m to land in an open field and land into the wind as the Disco has minimal control surfaces and no airbrakes.

Definitely a blast to fly though and highly open source/modable.

I saw one of these upgraded with a 4G cellular card and extra batteries and flown between two Hawaiian islands! I think it went 50 miles return trip and had close to 50% battery left.

Yeah, that's the reason I own one of these drones myself to try that out in the near future. It's amazing how long and far you can fly this thing.

      • CASA has entered the chat

    • OK, wow!

    • What the …

    • Its only got one motor to run, thats why it can last so long on even a mediocre battery. Quadcopter has to run 4 motors do they dont last anywhere near as long

  • I wish we could fly this in parks in Sydney, i would have kept mine!

  • Can you buy this and fly it straight away or do you need a license. As it's now a decent price, I was think of going halvies with a mate and fly/ mess about with it in his acreage garden?
Also, is it classed as a drone or a model aircraft like a toy Cessna, as it's got wings not rotors?

    • You can fly it with no licenses. There are some laws in place when flying such as not flying within 5km of and airfield.

      • Cheers for the super-quick reply.
Once we're proficient at flying it, we also planned on vising the GC hinterland regions and filming the waterfalls, Natural Bridge, vertical cliffs, etc. Would we be allowed to do this in the national parks?
And is there a big chance of losing it in the trees or are they fairly controllable once you've mastered flying it?

        • Don't know about the national parks, but you know i had this and it isn't super hard to fly and has a holding pattern, heaps of options for people who are just getting started!
