    I wear my 990 as a daily shoe (no running) and outer sole is almost worn out on outer edge after 1.5 years. Also toe-box inner (beneath mesh) is worn out under under big toe. New Balance promote these as US-made showcases but they’re still intentionally designed to premature wear out as their others.
    The root problem is that there’s no earnest penalty for throwing things into landfill. If there was, for example, vendor or seller was mandated to repatriate worn or obsoleted things, then we’d see things designed and manufactured to last longer.
