Fractal Design Define R6 TG Black | Blackout | Meshify S2 Black $179 (Normally $219) Pick Up or + Postage @ PC Case Gear

230

Just finished ordering all the parts for my new PC and came across this deal a little late I've already ordered and paid for the Fractal Design Define R6 USB-C TG Gunmetal for $259. This one doesn't have the USB-C but even if order it separately

https://www.ozgameshop.com/brackets-fixtures-and-enclosures/… for $41.99 +$1.99 delivery from the ozgameshop

Total would have been $222.98 if I saw this deal earlier although the don't seem to have the gunmetal so I feel a little bit better.

Postage kind of kills the deal but if you can pick up not a bad deal.

Computer tech here who has bought a number of Fractal Design cases and lots of stock from PCCaseGear.
Very few cases match the build quality of Fractal Designs, everything is done so well and is worth the price.

As for PCCaseGear, been buying from them for more than 10 years and they are always cool with things like returns. Swapped 3 IPS's playing the IPS lotto and they were fine with it. Don't have to send stuff away or hold for many weeks, they usually just look at the problem and say "Yep, go around the other side and get your money back". They cost a few bucks more than the super cheap competition but its well worth it.

    • Can vouch for this. Have had couple DOA parts in past and the return has been super simple.

    • How did they handle the shipping costs for the monitors?

      • He's talking about in store

Makes sense. I'm in the market for one of these monitors but not sure how to handle the panel lottery.

Hmm, bit of a revelation for me to scroll through that page and see that they don't even sell the traditional sound-dampened steel side panel version of the R6. Knew from pics and videos that clear side panels had become popular for custom builds, but didn't realise it was to the extent that standard ones have become such a niche.

    • I have the other version as well, its side panel is dampened.. very quiet case.

    • When I bought my R5 a couple of years ago, I had a hell of a time trying to find stock of the non-windowed version.

I have two of these cases, the other is the one with no glass and sound deadening. Best cases i've had in a long time.

Glass one - glass is tinted and makes it hard to photograph the inside.

Server build - no glass. Drive trays are removable. I have the water cooling res in that space in the other case.

    • Plex?

I'm limited on funds and space so i went for a gameing/Plex build in one.

      • Server is vmware esxi. i7 8700 + 32Gb ddr4.
        VM's:
        pfSense as my router
Freenas controlling 4x4tb drives directly via an LSI HBA that esxi passes through to the vm
A windows 2016 server for security cameras
        Ubuntu for Plex.

  • Be very careful with the Tempered Glass when you are assembling it. I bumped the corner of the glass a bit too hard and the whole thing shattered. I bought the Fractal Define Mini C TG. PCCaseGear were great to respond. But they have been waiting for a month from the supplier to find if a replacement panel can be ordered without having to order a whole new case.

Once the case is assembled you dont have to worry so much, the tempered glass can take a decent hit and not break. its just edge hits that its vulnerable to.

  • I am doing a build right now on the Define S2 which is pretty much the same case without the HDD cage and I can say it is a beautiful well thought out case to work with.
