More units are landing this afternoon.
Great price if you're in the market.
This is the Optus/Voda (900/2100) 3G version.really? even though it says NextG version..?
yeah its a little cornfuzzling - the specs on the site say its
GSM 850/900/1800/1900 UMTS 900/2100 HSDPA (which is not nextg)But even the title on the site says NextG
I figure the specs on their site have just been copy and pasted(goodnees knows where cause blackberry have it right: http://m.blackberry.com/au/en/pearl9100spec.html
There is probably a nextg model and a 900/2100 model for the others. Would suggest querying "WoW" before you go buying just to be sure.
It's the Telstra NextG unlocked version :-)
There is a 3G model for Voda/Optus but this one is different.
Hi WOW,
Does it mean that it works on the Vodafone 3G network as well or not?
Thanks a lot,
JonSure does.
Hi, are sure that this mobile is unlocked and can be used on Three/VOdafone networks? I called the customer service just now and she said that this mobile is locked to Telstra. Can you please confirm. Thanks a lot!
asked the same question and got this emailed back from the store:
"The Blackberry9100 is unlocked and can be used with any carrier in Australia."hope that helps. but the WOW representative here should be able to confirm this.
It is definitely unlocked.
Hi there,
Any discount if we buy bulk?
Thanks
Hi! Please email [email protected] with your request and we will see what we can do :-)
At the start of next year this phone will NOT be compatible with Telstra NextG.
Telstra are stopping the use of the 2100mhz spectrum which means this phone will only work on 2G with Telstra.
http://www.telstra.com.au/mobile/networks/network_info/earli…
Telstra has always called 850mhz NextG so technically this is not a NextG phone (though for the user there is no difference using 2100mhz compared to 850mhz, they are both 3G. But sometime next year this phone will no longer work on the 850mhz NextG network.)
Are you sure? The link you included did not list the Pearl.
Also, in regards to affected phones, the Telstra FAQ states:
"Telstra has not supplied 3G (2100MHz only) network devices to its retail channels since April 2007"Telstra still sells the Pearl, so what you are saying doesn't make sense to me.
I looked again at the WOW site and they have now changed the phone specifications.
When I made my comment the phone was listed as operating on UTMS 900/2100mhz (I did not mention that so it is probably why you are confused)
If you purchased the Pearl model which operates on 900/2100mhz then when telstra stops using the 2100mhz frequency your phone will not work with 3G.
WOW has now changed this to say that the phone operates on 850/2100mhz which is NextG so telstra not using 2100mhz will not affect the phone.
Telstra still sells the Pearl, so what you are saying doesn't make sense to me.
There is more than one model of the perl.
WOW originally has the 900-2100mhz model listed which is no use for telstra,
They have now changed it to the 850/2100mhz model which is good for telstra.Ok so I am confused but right. Your not my wife posting under another name are you?:)
I bought one @$159 to tide me over until I decide on Iphone 5 or SGS2.
pretty sure that handset isn't 2100mhz only.
