    Any drone under 100g can be flown anywhere.

    Anything above that you can't fly near people or hospitals or near flight paths/zones

    License is needed to "break" some of these rules Eg real estate photographers.

    Best you have a read of the CASA website

      Sort of correct, but you're making it worse than it actually is.

      No license is required, but you'll need to follow 'Standard Operating Conditions' which basically are:

      -120m above the ground limit
      -Keep 30m away from people (horizontally). Only the operator can be <30m to the drone.
      -Keep line of sight / visibility to your drone (No night flying, FPV Googles etc)
      -Fly one drone at a time
      -Exclusion areas around hospitals, airports, etc

      Note: All of this is basically just guidelines to assisting following the Civil Aviation Safety Regulations which can be reduced to 'don't create a hazard.' The '30m' rule is what CASA defines as 'creating a hazard'.
