Just got the email. The rollover is actually accumulating despite having three teenagers and Mrs entropy on the plan.

For those wondering, Telstra network but not LTE everywhere (eg Gulf Country). Trouble free but bare bones eg. No Apple Watch service.

  • Yeh just got the same message.. Bloody great plan đź‘Ť Thought my 3 kids would be eating thru the data but we have heaps rolling over each month. Couldn”t be happier !

  • +2

    Per 30 days.

  • +3

So that's like $20 per line per month on a shared 56GB data?

    • +2

Yeah, the rollover is what makes it such a good deal (IMO).

  • +13

This would cause unbelievable problems in an already unstable household

    • +2

I think you can put limits on each user, IIRC.

      • Limits on the guests but not the main account holder.

    • +4

Why? Each user can be assigned set limits and receive warnings when they have reached their limit. If you can't manage your household, that's another story, nothing to do with this deal.

    • +2

that's 14gb pp, if you're kids are consuming half of that in a month, something's already wrong there.

  • +6

This plan has been fantastic with us and our 2 teenagers and saved us over $30 a month from having individual plans
You can set data limits on each number if required, but we have had so much data leftover (even after a weekend at granddads where they used over 30Gb) there has been no need

  • +7

Hmm seems a bit pricey, but i guess the rollover is something.

One year of this is $960, with 672GB.
compared to boost's $150/$300, with 80GB/250GB, but per person..

I'd say definitely don't even consider aldi unless you have 4 people to go on this. But with 4 people, you can squeeze some value here!

    • +1

Huh? It's better pricing than boost for the amount of data (assuming 4 people.. but of course that's always going to be necessary).

    • those numbers scare me lol, from where I can I used to pay $7-8 for 1.5gb/per day and 1gb addon was 10cents I think.

  • +4

Please correct me if wrong, but the deal I got with kogan came about $17 per month with now 13GB, multiply that by 4 and we have $68 and 52GB, cheaper and close enough data-wise, I dont think rollover is worth $12, at least on my case

    • +8

Aldi uses Telstra network though. Coupled with the data rollover it is a decent option if you have 4 people to provide mobile for.

    • Yeah telstra vs voda. Depends on your area really, I don't mind voda in my area since I get ~90mbps down anyways

      • Then it depends on if you stay in your 'area'.
Travel too much country, and telstra is usually the only answer to reception.

  • Ozbargain team up anyone??? Just like the youtube premium team up??

    • +2

If you do this, keep in mind the owner of the account can see all call and SMS history, i.e. call number, time, date and duration.

      • all good, I've got nothing to hide…..oh wait

  • Looks like they've lifted the data on their regular plans too. I'm on the $25 one which I think started at 3GB, then 4, currently 9 and looks to be moving to 14 with next recharge incl rollover. Happy with that.

If it wasn't for the fact my wife is on a phone plan that has about 8 months to run this $80 deal would be very good. Could give the kids 15 each and still have plenty left for us. Would save about $50 per month.

    • Although Aldi has increased their Value Pack data allowances Telstra/Boost still seems to be better value considering their bonus offers.

    • The $20 M pack has also been increased from 3gb to 5gb

      • Sadly, Medium plan is no longer available for sale to new customers: https://www.aldimobile.com.au/plans/m-value-pack/
"If you are a customer who has previously purchased this Value Pack you can continue to recharge with this Value Pack."

$15 Small plan is now 2.5GB from 2GB
$25 Large plan is now 15GB from 9GB

Larger plans increased too but I can't remember what they were.

We've been pretty happy with Aldi Mobile as we have Telstra tower close to our home and had horrid reception with Optus and Vodafone. Rollover is great (especially on small plan), and 30 day plan makes it a bit cheaper over a year.

        • Oops, Large plan is 14GB. Sorry for the mis-information.

        • Same here - chose Aldi because it's on the Telstra network after having lots of problems with the Optus and Vodafone networks. Been excellent so far, and good for when you just want unlimited calls with a small amount of data.

  • No free international calls?

  • +3

Convinced my parents to join with the missus and myself. Parents use about 6GB between them per month.

    • +1

Will you be looking at your missus call/sms logs everyday??

      • No, the other way around!

      • +1

I could but when I'm always the better option, why would she bother contacting someone else?

  • +2

A pity they don't have a lite version of this. 4 users with a shared 12gb per month for $40 would be awesome.

    • still good plans..i never reach 10GB unless travel without wifi but other shared can expect 6-7gb from me near end of the month.

  • How does ADLI compare to Boost when it comes to international roaming? Has anyone tried to take it overseas and seen what happens? My parents aren't great with tech so they'll struggle working out how to activate things and stuff like that.

  • I don't understand why Telstra wholesales out its mobile network just so other companies can undercut its main offerings… madness.

    • +1

It's simple, coz of the $$ savings and network usage.

All of the customers on Aldi and other Telstra wholesellers are ones which these wholesellers have spent marketing money in attracting and signing up. Telstra is spending the same amount of money and resources on running its network (in fact lesser money, coz the wholesale network is much less capable than the retail).

Think of it as similar to running multiple virtual servers on a physical host. You're using the same resources more effectively with marginal increases in costs.

    • I have the other four members of my family in this ALDI pack while my phone is on a business full service Telstra account. I need it though as I spend a lot of time in remote rural where Telstra is the only LTE or 4G offering. That said, I am getting a bit sick of the profile work has put on my iPhone, so if I could add a fifth family member for $20, I would with a second small phone eg iPhone SE.

  • This family pack is good

However when it comes to tax return you won't be able to claim your phone usage spending, as all four numbers needs to go under one name under one account

  • +1

Also included in this is unlimited international calls and text to 15 overseas destinations…. makes it even better value!

  • -1

too expensive…not ozbargain price, 80x12=$760? it's damn freaking crazy, people who on belong $10 plan already able to do it no more than $120 each year already with 40GB+…2x$15 belong sims+bunch for sims for data like Kogan. That's my plan for my household of 4.

    ALDI really out of touch…
