Just received my mw3 from the prev deal. D'oh!

Installed, set up in bridge mode and it seems to be very good. Is there a noticeable performance increase with the mw6?

Wouldn't it be $180 with the $20 off?

      You’re right wolfrooter

    • Actually that's for the 2 pack kit. The 3 pack kit is $219 - $20 per the OP.

$109.95 + $9.99 postage on the shopping square website.

    • That's the mw3

      • Your too quick, just realised my mistake.

I’d still go the MW3, same speed at half the price

        • Does it have better range or something?

          • @bargainshooter: Isn’t that the point of having mesh wifi system, range doesn’t matter.

Also no specs on range listed for either system.

            • @[Deactivated]: there was a review comparing mw6 and mw3 from memory mw6 had better coverage.

Will try find link later and post it here.

            • @[Deactivated]: Range isn't infinite - so not really sure what you're trying to say. They do specify range - something like 300m2?

I think it's also limited to 100mbs WAN, which could be an issue if you want to connect to internet faster than this

  • What are peoples thought's about security issues re reports of sending info to china?

    Very tempted to get this…

    • I'm interested also

      • i'm more interested

        • Interesting

          • @heavyoctopus: I’m not interesting and so I think the Chinese will have no interest.

    • If you use this a bridge mode and have proper firewall such as Pfsense etc you can just block outgoing connection to China.

    • What reports?

The mainstream news is filled with baseless conspiracy theories invented by Western Intelligence agencies.

So the people that are silly enough to consume the news still think every device is being used by the Chinese Government to spy on everything they do while their own Government, if it's USA, UK, CA, NZ or AU, actually spies on everything they do.

And the news reports nothing about it.

Yeah, just have look at intel, AMD, google, apple, facebook, Microsoft etc. They all send data back to government and backdoors.

    • The "west" has a problem w/ Chinese hw bcos they can't force back doors… although the Chinese gov can.
Still prefer the chinese spying on me… they're only interested in people who conspire against or question the party.

    • What are peoples thought's about security issues re reports of sending info to china?

So long as you're not sending data over non HTTPS (so they can't steal things like bank details or shopping info); I'm much less worried about China getting my 'tracking info' than a superpower who could influence my life.

China has no power over me as I'm not there.

  • This must have been asked a million times, but is it okay to use just this with NBN FTTP? Or do I have to get a separate modem?

    • Sure It will work just fine as a router.

    • FTTP normally already has a termination box, with a LAN port on it.

Configure, Whack this in and be done.

Catch22, no Ethernet. So you're stuck using wifi (the horror).

You can look into EOP devices if you need reliability and speed.
