More like 6 weeks, with an announcement or preview in 3 weeks. Likely a staggered launch though, and you probably don't want to buy at launch.
will the ryzen 3000 take over the price bracket of the 2000 series?
and thus push the price down for the 2000 series?
The 1700X originally launched with a $569 price and it was succeeded by the more affordable $515 2700X.
It would be great to see the 3000 series follow this trend and come out cheaper but we'll just have to wait and see what happens.
AMD were very open that their goal with early Ryzen was to capture market share. They have very much done that with series one and two - latest sales figures show Ryzen sales are now surpassing Intel chips by a decent margin.
From what I've read the new chips should actually be cheaper to produce but I would suspect pricing of the 3000 series will now depend on whether 1) AMD want to further push market share and cement their place (Cheap/comparable price) or 2) Capitalise and profit on the hype for Ryzen 3000 after the success of Ryzen 1 & 2 so far (Charge more).
Edit: Either way IMO the price for the 2000 series will come down
I'd imagine AMD will be properly pushing Intel while they're down, take advantage and try to really pull in the DIY market.
Moreso, however, they need the OEM market (and pre-builts in general), lower prices would also help them there.
Maybe I'm just being optimistic, but I'm thinking AMD will at worst keep the prices the same.
3 months? i hope not
Roughly the same (actually, $1.03 cheaper) if you don't have Prime and want the CPU to be delivered quicker, $292 at Futu eBay with the code PEACE
Batteries: 1 A batteries required.
Hmmmmmmm
Ryzen is so efficient it runs on 1 A batteries
The battery will be flat in 1min.
1700 is on Newegg for cheaper if you're OK with ditching Precision Boost 2 and XFR2 for 2 more cores. Gaming difference (once the 1700 is reasonably overclocked, which there are many guides for) is minimal with these later 1st gen Ryzen batches (the 12nm used for 2nd gen has not improved because it's not used in their server chip production).
The 1700 comes with a great stock cooler too.
Ryzen 3000 series chips out in 3~ months, should be a decent improvement for those who can wait.
