What is this, travel insurance night? 😂

    • Seems like it!

  • FFS - I saw the 20% deal, clicked through and made a purchase.. come back here and there's two more deals with higher discounts!

    • +1

don't they allow you to cancel before the trip?

    • +1

There’s normally a 14 day cooling off period during which you can cancel.

      • +1

Yep. I bought a policy last week with a 15% off code. Cancelled just then and rebought with the 35% code and 15% cashback. Yay :)

  • +1

    Salute to the Sir.

  • -1

    Wheres the shopback link?

  • +2

Doubt you would get cash back given the code is not listed.

    • It's worth a shot

    • For what it's worth, shopback tracked my purchase with the discount code

  • +1

    Thank you so much!

    • You're welcome :)

      Read this: https://www.travelinsurancedirect.com.au/pds

      "Section 6: Travel delay
You only have this cover if you choose The Works
or the Annual Multi Trip plan.
If your pre-paid scheduled transport is
cancelled, rescheduled or delayed for an
unforeseen reason outside of your control,
whether or not caused by a carrier, we will pay
you up to $2,000 for a single policy or $4,000
for a family policy as follows:…"

Sure , sort of but $12K if I lose sight in both eyes …
Always get insurance before travelling OS but I wouldn't bother with this crew .
This is worse than any insurance I've ever seen . .

        • +1

Replies are prompt and only had to claim once with them but no issues what so ever. I normally get their long running 7% off deals so this is a nice change.

TID and Southern Cross are the only 2 travel insurance companies I use.

          App is helpful as well.

          Why you neg?

        • I’ve had to claim with TID before and they couldn’t have been more helpful. Prompt communication and payment. They bent over backwards another time to help when my flight was cancelled to Madagascar due to the bubonic plague too. Great company.

    Laziness paid off. Thanks OP!

  • Thank you OP

For both reminding me I needed insurance and then giving me a great code !!

Most of the recent reviews are pretty bad over on ProductReview.

    https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/travel-insurance-d…

Might hold off on this one…

    • +2

I've used them a fair bit and have made small claims with no major issues. Never for any medical stuff though so…

    • +2

I've claimed a whole cancellation of a family holiday as my son was sick without issue.
On another trip was stuck in Bali due to the Volcano. Claimed alternate flights home and all costs if the delay, also without issue.

    • The true test of insurance is when you actually go to make the claim.

You are right. It's alarming that so many people who have left negative reviews are saying that it is due to issues with claims.

I don't know why people would bother leaving a review when they haven't had to make a claim.

    • +1

Have used them to claim against a recent EU delayed trip (weather related) resulting in us booking a train (London to Amsterdam), hotel, meals etc. Came home not expecting much. Made a claim, it paid out for just about everything (minus a bottle of red wine). Was fast, efficient and painless. They wanted the usual copies of expenses and proof of delay. Very happy customer here.

      • What's was wrong about a bottle of wine?

    • +1

Yeah, I had to make a claim for post exposure prophylaxis and they quoted that "HIV is not classed as a 'serious medical issue' under their policy. Didn't know that AIDS wasn't serious, hey 🤔

They may be fine with flight issues, but medical issues, would never go with them again after they said that.

    • +1

I made a painless claim against rental windscreen damage (skipped rental insurance as these guys cover that).

  • Score! Cheers for the post!

  • Still more expensive than the Insureandgo one I got about 6-8 weeks ago with a normal kind of discount (maybe it’s cheaper if you get it well before you need it).

  • Is there a benefit to this sort of travel insurance vs credit card travel insurance.

    • Credit card insurance policies are very basic and don't have a lot of inclusions that seperate, dedicated policies do/have lower payout amounts. Each card is different so go through line by line for a comparison.

    • +1

Big downside for me is the fact that you can't reduce the excess with CC insurance. However not to say I don't use it.

      • That's offset by not paying a premium though.

  • Anyone used them before and made claim?

    • +1

Yep but not recently and believe they are underwritten by a different crowd now. Years ago my baggage was delayed en route from Perth to Queenstown. As a result I incurred costs in purchasing essential clothing. In this case, a $350 jacket. No probs at all with TID. Was the best feeling walking into that expensive ski shop and leaving my bargaining hat at the door. Still using that jacket today.

  • Looks like this is a staff code. Hopefully doesn’t get taken away anytime soon!

    • +3

Can they cancel your claim on the basis of you not being the staff?

    • +4

I hope it doesn’t affect any claims since we’re not supposed to use it

      • +1

Just buy an insurance against it 😜

      • +3

This. There is a similar risk when renting cars with those super-discount codes for company business trips from hertz etc. No problem paying for the insurance with the code, but when it comes to claims, you are giving the insurance provider a way out of paying out.

        • +1

Glad I read these comments, was about to purchase, but don’t want to take the risk of them seeing I am not a staff member and may claim I was illegible

  • Yay thanks OP! Just in time for my trip to Nepal :)

  • I have got complimentry credit card insurance by QBE insurance? Do I still need this? or QBE covers basic stuff?

  • Where do you pu tpromo code? I have reached at final page where you put payment details.

  • +1

I got sick in Bali. Put the claim in for the doctors bill on 1st April. Claim approved on 9th April (6 working days). Paid into my account by Friday. Highly recommend TID. I use them every trip. They have been excellent again. Just make sure you select the no excess option

    • Sorry 7 working day :P

  • Doesn't seem to work any more? I tried it with two travelers to New Zealand and even though it says the code is applied it didn't update the price.

    • Same for me

      • Yeah it doesn't work anymore. Booooo!

        • Same for me as well =(

  • With the annual multi trip there is no where to input code

  • +1

Accepts the code but doesn't apply the discount

  • deal is dead

  • -1

I had a very bad experience with TID. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone

  • Just tried and code was accepted but did not apply any discount. Looks like it's over :/

  • when the cover states that covers rental vehicle up to 4000, does it include motorhome rental?

  • +1

Sorry, no further policies can be purchased using this code.

    looks like it's been Ozbargained!

  • I picked up this policy last week, what do i need to do prior to travelling, take pictures of laptop etc. Any other suggestions?

  • +1

Looks like I got one of the last ones, very cheap for a trip to Thailand later this year. I'm not too worried about it being a staff code - nowhere in the PDS does it say anything about this policy only being available for staff, so it shouldn't affect your legal rights.

    • +2

Maybe true however unless the code is released by the company I think it's pretty bad form of the community to use it.

Many may disagree however I believe stuff like this doesn't leave much goodwill in organisations for this community.

  • If this discount code is ozbargainer.. What is the next best discount code now? Spewing I missed it!

  • Thanks OP.
