So the impact driver is definitely worth the extra $120?”
Not sure I’ll ever need it.
I use my impact drivers 10:1 vs the hammer drills I have
What do you use them on that the hammer driver won’t do?
@gasman70: Impact drivers saves your wrist so I guess it's easier on the body if you are use them often. I guess also can double for a small impact wrench with the adapter bits.
@gasman70: I used to just have a Milwaukee hammer drill and used it for drilling/driving. Switched to a Ryobi kit because it's better value for home use. I agree with Bilbo, the impact driver is getting a lot more use now. Vastly more effective at driving screws and a lot better at not stripping philips heads. Also great for working on the car.
@FTTNope: Cheers guys for your helpful answers. I've seen impact drivers for sale but never really understood what their advantages were.
I went to buy a ryobi cordless drill. But this was about the same price with 2 batteries. This only got 3 year warranty in contrast to a 6 year ryobi warranty.Yet I think this is a better build.
I was thinking about the combo deal then I couldn't justify extra $120 for an impact skin. Hmmm…maybe later down the track I might need it..For now happy with a good versatile Hammer drill for my DIY projects.
:)
Is this a better deal?

Makita used to be held in higher regard than DeWalt.
Very informative

$299 is the new normal price for the kit including the listed hammer drill, an impact driver and also two batteries. For the extra $120 I would definitely get this over the hammer drill only kit.
