    Dragon Age Ultimate $34.00

Only $20 from Zavvi and you can order right now and will get here maybe 1 or 2 days later.

(I bought this awhile ago, so knew the price.) I would suggest most of the others are similar and even on "special" from EB can be pruchased cheaper overseas.

Given it was posted as an online sale, might be different if it was in store and people did not want to wait for delivery.

    • +1

First time I ever ordered from zavvi, was a preorder two months in advance.
It took them 5 months to send it to me, this was after being told to call them (for a security issue) only to have them tell me over the phone they couldn't find me in their system, and they'd call me back (no call back)

I cannot advise anyone to buy from zavvi after the horrible service I received.

      • -1

        Is that so?

        • It is so.
I should also mention that they didn't send me the preorder, only the other things I ordered. Over the 5 month waiting time, they never told me it was the preorder that was the trouble, only they had "security concerns" they couldn't tell me.

Also lol at the neg for describing my problem with zavvi.

        • +1

Fixed that up for you lapzod

      • Well I have bought stuff from zavvi and it has arrived within 5 business days each time. I also ordered Motorstorm Apocolpyse on pre order and it arrived 4 days after the release date (about a month after I ordered). I don't doubt you had a problem, but I have found zavvi (and ozgameshop) to be very good. Obviously something cropped up with your order that caused a problem.

        • +1

Essentially I think this is an example of "your mileage may vary". I adore Book Depository for example, yet before my first order with them I found a website with lots of horribly negative reviews. Personally though I've never had a problem.

crappy sale from a crappy company

  • Strange i can only find the collectors edition of GT5 on their site not the signature.

  • God of War: Ultimate Trilogy Edition $88.00

    Thats cheap.

    But its also sh*t.

I bought one to sell on ebay when you couldn't get them.. too lazy, never sold it. Really, really should have.

    • lolwut

$88 is a fantastic price on a box set that has been sold out for months and retailed around $250.

And what is wrong with the games anyway? They're good fun.

      • +1

        Games are great.

The extras are a joke, and the pandoras box borders between tacky and overdone.

The last couple of times EB has sold these online they were seconds. So read the description before buying.

        • Ok fair enough, but if you were to buy both games separately it would come to around the same price so why not take advantage of the deal and get the extras (even if they are bad)?

  • Assassins Creed Brotherhood - Auditore Ed ps3 and xbox 360 is $49.94 at dick smith right now

Why do EBGames deals even get listed on this site anymore… A simple scan of Gamecafe or the like will always turn up better prices, seriously people there is nothing here that is close to a bargain.

    • harry potter wii for $24 is pretty good for local pricing

  • +1

Their 'sales' prices are terrible! For example - Star Wars Battlefront 2 is 'on sale' at $18, the normal price is $20. Yay? Some prices are good, such as Mass Effect for $14, but the rest of it is yawn-inspiring. A few days ago they were trying to flog Black Ops Prestige Edition (with an remote controlled car) for $118.

  • +6

These prices are shite. Even for local pricing. If you haven't bought these games yet then I am sure you can wait for the next decent sale or the couple of days shipping from zavvi.

    • +1

i agree. not enough to neg tho..
i wont be able to sleep at night if neg this :P

    • Agreed, no bargains to be found here.

  • +4

I gave it a positive based on Toy Story 3 being $18 for the PS3. Had a quick check on Gamecafe.com.au and the lowest stated was 30+.

    • +1

      oooh, don't tempt me

  • Seems to be some pretty reasonable prices on some of the older stuff.

  • +1

BattleField Bad Company 2 was $7.50 on steam a few days ago
The expansion Vietnapack was $6.50 (from memory)

EB Are selling the 1st game "on sale" for more than double the price I could get the 2 games combined on steam.

    No bargain.

    • Downloading a game is obviously cheaper because you aren't paying for all the additional costs incurred for a retailer to put a physical item on it's shelf and make a profit out of it. So costs such as packaging of the product, it's game manual, shipping of the product to the store, etc. all add up. Comparing the price of a physical game to the price of a digital game is hardly a valid argument.

      • +1

You have some very valid points here, but in the end they add up to nothing. Much of the time something like a manual (which you frequently no longer get in the physical case) means nothing as it doesn't contain vital info. Plus people generally only look at the price of the product. When I bought the game 'star Wars the Force Unleashed', it was $7.50 on Steam, $60 at EB games. Do I want it in a case, with a physical DVD? Absolutely. Am I prepared to pay an 800% markup for it? No.

        • Do I want it in a case, with a physical DVD? Absolutely. Am I prepared to pay an 800% markup for it? No.

negging based on your personal opinion/preference = not good

some may wish to pay whatever the cost is for the case.
Comment on the deal, give your opinion, but unless you indicate a cheaper price for the same product…. don't neg

        • +1

Did you read the post properly?

          Steam = $7.50
          EB = $60

In this case with Bad Company 2
          Steam = $7.50
          EB = $34

          Not a bargain

        • Are the boxes, discs and manuals the same from Steam as they are from EB games?

If so… yay…. good reason for neg

If not….. you personal preference for not paying for the box etc, is a valid opinion, but not appropriate for a negative.
Some people (collectors), may well wish to have the box, etc. Your neg helps to remove this deal from their view

        • +1

mate, let it go. At the end of the day, the games from EB are much more expensive even 'on sale'. therefore not a bargain, and I'm not changing my mind.

        • Buying on steam and buying form EB Games is different.

I would gladly pay $50 more for a physical copy of a game from a store nearby. I don't need to wait for the game to download, or for the game to arrive in the mail.

It also means I can install the game without an internet connection (usually).

        • +1

Unfortunately that's not necessarily the case these days. I bought physical copies of Saints Row 2 and Napoleon Total War - you need to have Steam in order to use these physical copies as they use Steam for their DRM.

Other games I have also require internet connection to be able to save the game - Star Wars Republic Heroes and Batman Arkham Asylum - or to authorise DLC as with Mass Effect 2. It's a pain in the rear, but you just can't get around it.

  • +3

Steam half year sale should be on sometime next month. I'd wait for that.

  • +2

I don't think this is worth negging. Many of these prices are excellent for local pricing, some even beating UK pricing. The fact that there are bargains to be had, makes it a bargain.
Just because some of the pricing isn't great, doesn't mean you should neg the entire deal IMO.

I am giving this a positive for some good prices for local, Australian copies of games that should take a lot less time to get here than from the UK.

edit: Just for the record, I hate EB Games and their overpricing. And a lot of these prices are still overpriced. But there are at least some bargains, and so I must put my dislike for EB Games aside.

    • +1

Each to their own. I only neg it because of stunts like having Battlefront II 'on sale' for $2 off the regular price. It's somewhat misleading, particularly if people don't know what the original price is.

      • thats a pretty poor reason to neg, whats wrong with just posting your opinion?

        • +1

Okay it's not the ONLY reason, but $2 off isn't a bargain. It's better than usual, but not a bargain. Plus, Napoleon: Total War is $18, $6 more than I bought it for at the start of the year from Game. Finally as yada said, Bad Company 2 is $34 - it was $7.50 on Steam last week.

  • deals for shogun total war grandmaster and napoleon emperor edition are not bad.

  • Every list assassin's creed brotherhood codex edition, but I can't find it on their site!

  • God of War Ultimate Edition was sold out on their site at 8:30AM. They never had any!!! I really want it too

  • Didn't get my Toy Story 3 either.. I thought sale started at 9am.. Isn't that what was advertised?

    • +1

      They got us good.

  • Fallout New Vegas Collector's Edition is sold out.. :(

  • +1

lol. A crappy sale that seems to have never had any of some product and/or very little of others. This just keeps getting better!

  • Only good deal IMO is wii resident evil darkside bundle. Even with the $8.50 delivery fee (I thought this sale was supposed to have free shipping?). Anyways, the bundle looks good… Can't expect too much from EB games, ripoff merchants that they are.

    • +2

You need to type in "POWER" as a coupon code upon checkout. Contact eb games to get this sorted

      • Thanks, I also noticed people mentioning this voucher code on the facebook page… Have slung EBgames support an e-mail, hopefully they can fix it.

Strange, since the 48hoursofpower.ebgames.com.au site had no mention of a code, just said "free shipping"… So when the missus ordered it for me (from a bookmark of the product page) there was no mention of it. Why they even bothered with a friggin coupon code is beyond me.

edit: got a reply from EB informing me the shipping will be refunded to my credit card - very nice! 20 minute reply time aint too shabby, thanks EB.

  • What do you know, Toy Story 3 is back in stock. Get it while it's still available guys =]

  • Picked up 2010 world cup for $8 incl shipping. I know it's old, but still a good party game
