  • Why do you use Net-A-Porter stock photos?

  • Semms like a scam to me

  • mods should remove this. This doesn't look genuine.

  • +1

Not sure about a scam but you may be interested to know that their company name is Shanghai Bosheng Fashion Co.,Ltd and in China Bosheng means "study others" i.e. copy. That may explain why they appear to be using the stock photos from a recognised, legitimate business and hence why the garments themselves may be cheap knock-offs. $16 for a winter coat? Really??

You may want to be aware that their T&C state that they won't send the item until 2 to 3 days after your money has been cleared. Not sure why they feel it is reasonable to delay sending the goods once they have your hard earned.

That's just my $0.02 worth (incl GST).

    • proof that bosheng means that? My chinese isn't fantastic but im pretty sure thats wrong..

although it does seem dodgy as

    • Please right out the characters for Bosheng that means "study others"

  • I apologise if I have offended anyone in terms of the meaning of Bosheng. It is simply that when I searched the name it came up a bit as a business name in China. Further searching showed that one of these companies actually explain the use of Bosheng in their business name when listing their company. see below..

    http://www.made-in-china.com/showroom/njbslp/companyinfo/Bos…

I had assumed that, because this was a Chinese manufacturer explaining the use of the term, that it was a true reflection of the word. My mistake.

The following website provides a list of company names (& products) if you wish to search futher for the use of Bosheng in company names.

    http://business-listings.com/

/aggregate - I do not know any Chinese characters and I am unsure as to how to write them using an English k/b. However, I would be happy for you to provide this information so that I do not make the same mistake again.

    Cheers.

    • If I may shed some light on this matter.

      Simplfied: 博胜
      Traditional: 博勝

I believe that the explanation of Bosheng in the made-in-china.com link is merely poorly worded marketingspeak. "Bo" is a rather academic Chinese term and all of its usages refer to studying, studiousness, etc (including "studying others").

There are other examples of marketing language representing BoSheng as something else. The first baidu search result for 博勝 is the company wiki profile for a company called Bosheng. link: http://baike.baidu.com/view/2974340.htm

It breaks down the characters Bo and Sheng and provides definitions. It defines Bo as "using your own actions to achieve and receive". Sheng as "achieving victory or reaching goals". Excerpt: 『博』 本义:用自己的行动获得,博弈。 『胜』 获得成功或达到目的。『博胜』其意为用自己的行动获得成功。

Suffice to say BoSheng is a popular name for Chinese companies in various industries due to the nature of its meaning, but it does not necessarily mean to "study others".

      • Sincere thanks esq. I appreciate the time that you have taken to share. d:-)

I am sorry but my version of IE8 is showing little boxes for what I imagine are the Chinese characters that you display in your message. Am I able to check a box somewhere in my settings to allow me to actually see the characters?

        • Vista/7 Ultimate: install Chinese LIP from Microsoft etc.
XP Pro: Install Chinese fonts off CD.

If using XP Home or Vista/7 anything but Ultimate/Enterprise: Change "system locale" to China (PRC). (This has side effects that you reverse by changing system locale back to US or Australia).

There are probably other ways. Unfortunately cross-language compatibility is not a major consumer need and as such the industry does not focus on making it easy for consumers.

        • Use Chrome as browser. :)

  • BARGAINS !

  • Would like to use Chrome or anything else. Stoopid work computer so it is locked down d:-(

Hence the valuable instructions from esq will not work for me. But thx anywayz.
