Ecovacs DEEBOT 600 Floor Cleaning Robot $278.20 @ Bunnings

60

Shamefully copied from Bunnings website - might qualify me for a job writing assignments.. πŸ™‚

Also found on PriceHipster, then bought one at local Bunnings - btw in my store they kept them at the service desk.

A little cheaper than the ALDI special but I would guess a different model. I have no idea of the differences

High performance cleaning for all floor types - DEEBOT can clean multiple floor types, including both hard surface floors and carpets, and comes with a high performance cleaning system that can tackle a variety of mess-types.
3-stage cleaning system for effortless cleanliness - With the edge cleaning brushes and the V-shaped main brush, the DEEBOT simultaneously sweeps, lifts and vacuums in a single pass.
The DEEBOT uses Smart Motion to clean both carpet and hard surface floors.
Tackle those particularly problematic messes by engaging the Max Mode cleaning function. It increases suction power up to 2 times, and works on both hard surface floors and carpets.
With the ECOVACS Home App you can control and monitor your robot from anywhere: schedule a clean, monitor its status, start a new cleaning session and designate what the areas you want cleaned, all with one simple, easy-to-use App.

OP could you write up a brief review once you get the chance to use it?

  • The model that Aldi was selling was 610. Only difference looks to be 600 doesn't have the mopping add-on so if you don't need that, this looks to be a good option.

  • Can anyone comment on how this compares to offerings from the likes of xiaomi?
Or in general how this or the 610 works as an autonomous floor cleaner. Not fussed on the mopping

Here's a previous deal where Xiaomi is highly recommended over this vacuum.

These 'dumb' robots don't really have any propper mapping or pathfinding capabilities. I'd be dubious that it will find its way back to the charger.
Completely different to the Roombas and Xiaomi.

Bought an earlier dumb Aldi one end of last year (returned) - found its way back to charger (bumping around until it found it).

Mapping would just ensure a faster return to base. Control over areas to be cleaned & areas to avoid would be useful (I placed physical barriers - timber, which worked well).

Some areas will be more thoroughly cleaned than others - it depends where it randomly bumps intoπŸ˜‰

Given time (I didn't mind how long it took as was out) it did a pretty good job. Random maneuvers over time should even out so all areas get adequate cover. But it regularly got stuck in spots like corners (placed objects there to stop that).

Mopping was dragging a wet cloth around - fed from a controlled water tank. Was OK.

Vacuum strength was an issue (grit left on floor), along with small capacity reservoir to hold dust etc. Xiaomi claims much higher suction - something wanted in a vacuum!

So still had to vacuum anyway. Kept it cleaner between vacuums. With consumables (brushes etc), the $199 cost was not justified for me.

Bought LG roboking (turbo+WiFi) from South wharf JB last week with 4 years warranty for parts and 10 years for motor for $320.. comes with mopping capability too..

  • i have the aldi ecovacs ozmo 610 bought a few weeks back. The pathfinding is ok- but you will quickly want it to be smarter with real mapping (these models do not have that). no issues finding its way back to its base though, just cannot get it to vaccuum say just one section (the kitchen for eg), its all or nothing. Also cannot cope with anything other than an extremely small change of floor level between rooms.Keeping mine but saving to also get the roborock s50…

  • No LiDAR. It's hard to beat the Xiaomi gen2 atm.
