android one was supposed to bring more vanilla android to the market, companies might be reluctant to do more vanilla android as then it just becomes hardware and $ for consumers to choose from, adding software differentiation might justify price difference .
i like android one on my nokia.
Only $3 cheaper. With Banggood PayPal can be used.
Agreed - I thought it would be cheaper and easier for low-end phones to just use Android One.
If this had Android One and a bigger battery, I think I'd be looking to offload my Nokia 7 Plus and go for one of these. Any idea how much bloatware Sharp use, and whether the 3800mAh battery in the Nokia is a true comparison with the 3200mAh in the Sharp?
A question that is rarely asked these days… Anyone know if these are likely to be able to be rooted? Or a cheap alternative that can? I'm looking to replace my old dying Samsung Note 3 as a second phone.
I'm thinking of keeping my old Redmi Kate going forever. What exactly do you mean by "dying"? Flat battery? More?
I've replaced the battery already but the same symptoms show which are:
Phone randomly will go from 100% to 5% to dead, or if I do anything intensive with the phone it just shuts down. Even the bloaty Maccas app can cause a shut down. So it's very temperamental.
So I'm just looking for a stable phone (doesn't have to be new) that'll be rootable and up for the light duties I use a rooted phone for, for the next few years. It's getting very hard to root most flagship phones nowadays so I tend to leave my main phone stock and My LG V20 which will soon be a spare is way too hard to root.
That sounds like a faulty battery still.
I used my note for a LONG time, it overclocked well.
@MasterScythe: Well batteries are cheap, I'll buy a 3rd one and see if it helps.
@Click_It: if you're charging do you gt the same issues?
I rooted my Note 3 to 6.0.1 but found that a couple of apps I like to use wont run on a rooted phone
I forget what mine is running, but its later than 6.0, I've flashed it a few times. It runs everything except for the fact that it's dying unrelated to the OS.
EDIT: This could be my next rooted phone, googling reveals it's smaller brother the S3 Mini is easily rooted so I would expect this one to be the same. I'll watch this space. For what I have planned it should do the job for 5+ years.
I missed out on the Note 8 deal for $600 yesterday. I agree with you though that a phone should last 5 years, not the 2 years most people do.
nfc payment apps don’t like rooted phones….might have to do app thinking phone has been hacked ….
Good to know. For me however my rooted (second) phone won't need nfc, it's just for a few light duties. NFC is vital on my main phone
Isn't it android one?
Good question. The Sharp S3 has Android One in Japan and South Korea but not in Taiwan. So what does this one have? No idea.
I see someone has posted a question about whether it has Android One at banggood but there is no answer yet.
OP - trying to order but best price i get is $224.88 with insurance removed..?
Do i need to pay in USD?
EDIT: USD did the trick…
Yes, USD comes out cheaper with fee free card.
never select AUD if using visa or MC as your bank will gleefully take their forex fee on top so you get a double conversion fee.
at least amex have the decency not to rob you if you're billed in aud
It looks like this S3 should of been called a S2 plus
It’s same price, so call it S2 or S10. Doesn’t matter
Korean version doesn't have B28. Is it different model or same model?
2G GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
3G WCDMA: 850/1900/2100
4G FDD LTE: B1/3/5/7/8/17/26(MFBI)
I'd go with what they've written on the ad - which definitely says B28. At least you'd have a solid case for a return if you got the phone and it didn't actually have B28.
I ordered 2 units on the 7 April. Not sure when to expect delivery into Perth. Anyone bought from banggood in the past?
I have ordered a few low cost things from Banggood and all have showed up, But i Have never had anything shipped Via Swiss Post Before, My order is showing

and says below that
Our delivery partners in the destination country have unfortunately not provided us with any consignment incidents. The lack of this information does not affect actual delivery.
So it looks like we won't get a Auspost tracking code, Hopefully they just show up on the door step soon, I paid with paypal so hopefully that gives me some type of moneyback insurance???

Anyone ordered have received their Phones???

Yes, today. Ordered on the 2nd April and it was shipped out on the 8th.
Still nothing here either, Easter and Anzac day may have slowed things down.
I am getting real impatient with the delivery of this phone.
I am still waiting and today is the end of 3 weeks waiting and going on to 4 weeks now.
Anyone got their phones from Banggood yet??
My brother got his today. Ordered on the 2nd April and it was shipped out on the 8th.
Mine was shipped out of Hong Kong on the 9 April. Hopefully I get it next week.
Got mine today! It's pretty good for the price. Camera is fine, pretty fast when opening apps. Overall pretty happy with it!!
@jonogwil: hey Jonogwil, when did they ship your parcel?
@jonogwil: Did it come with auspost?
@iratepirate: shipped the 9th i think! im not sure, the reception signed for it!! Actually a great phone for $200, the UI is a little annoying but generally its fast, easyu to use and the cameras are pretty good for the price!!
Still nothing here yet, getting a little worried!
Same here, I am still waiting for mine to arrived and it was shipped on the 09 Apr 2019.

I have contacted Banggood and they are asking me to wait for a few more days but stated that they guaranteed to delivery within 60 days.
On their website their website it stated 25 business days.
When do I start involving Paypal for a refund???
I'm at the same point as you - no phone yet. Time for a paypal claim soon.
Same here. Also shipped on the 9th of April. Have asked customer support twice but no further information was given. Won't be using them again, but I hope the phone arrives soon.
Can't say much for the price…isnt the aliexpress one a lot cheaper?…but this thing looks pretty amazing!
Only hold outs seem to be ROM and camera quality. Wish more of these "global" ROMs were just vanilla Android.
