Still expensive than virgin money insurance!

    • Rob is correct, i compared a trip to Thailand in Nov, came up to 126.48 on TID
$117.58 on Virgin money insurance, without a promo code. Now we just have to wait for the a ozbargain miracle to get a promo code VMI!

    • Is it the same cover?

OK someone help me out here.

I am pretty lazy at posting deals and decided to make more of an effort. I am basically put off posting any bargains by the responses people will make.

So far this deal has been negged and slagged off for being more expensive than Virgin.

In my mind 12% off TID is a deal that could save someone some cash, who might not otherwise be aware.

The TID product is not the same as the Virgin product so why would people compare them?

ONE example is that the Virgin comprehensive insurance doesnt even include rental car insurance excess. The TID policy includes $4000 rental car excess.

Example, a 35 year old travelling to the UK from 1st to 21st June, TID comprehensive policy including discount $91.52
Virgin $89.93, Virgin with $4000 rental car insurance $155.68.

I understand that not everyone needs rental car cover but it means these are two very different products.

Someone please explain to me what I'm not getting before I stop posting forever

    • Welcome to the world of Ozbargain professionals where everything is a fair game.

Don't let responses get to you. It doesn't bother me the slightest. I even got a fan recently where whatever I posted here was repeated by someone. If it did bother me, I guess I should go to an island then, as you will always find people who will not respond favourably. You can't please everyone.

The earth is flat, so I'm just going to go to the edge and jump off. It must be a lot better down under.

    • hahahha not at all mate, keep posting. no one here is slagging you. just a better deal for me was mentioned which saved me 20 bucks.

well spotted also, i didn't even notice it. If i did need car rental, TID would of been a better choice. but since there is a 0% chance of renting a car there. why pay for it.

  • Someone needs to cut back a bit on the caffeine.

  • Cheers.

  • Thanks OP. Saved me 12%. Couldn't stack with LUCKY as someone mentioned above, there was nowhere to enter a 2nd promo code. When I tried LUCKY by itself without following the Easter promo link, it said the code was invalid anyway.

  • Does anyone know the actual discount code for TID? I want to do it through Shopback first to get the extra 4.2% off but yeah if not oh well.

    • I dunno if TID interface allows you to manually insert promocodes. I think their discount system operates through email links.
If you do a dummy booking using the link above it says the promocode is "Woo! 12%* OFF"
It doesnt look like a proper code and I dont know where you can insert it on TID website.
Often cashback and shopback invalidate the eligibility of any payment where another promo discount has been used

  • Oh damn, doing some research I found a code and it gives me 35% off. I am scared to use it though because it is a "Staff code", i would hate for them to deny my claim if i have one. What should I do?

    • not worth it… the whole point of having insurance is piece of mind. If you don't have piece of mind on the insurance that is meant to give you piece of mind, then its better not to go down that dark path.
