How Can I Test Earbuds to See if They Fit in My Ear, before Purchasing?

Hello,

I'm in the market for truly wireless earphones. They can be pretty expensive, and I guess that they can't be refunded for hygiene purposes.

So, I don't want to get the purchase wrong. I have a bad history with earbuds…in most cases they don't fit. But I'm very interested in trying a pair of Jabra's or the Galaxy Buds.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can try the earphones before buying, or a place that offers change of mind refunds?

Thanks

get on a crowded weekday morning train and when you see someone else wearing them then ask if you can try theirs

    • Yuck, but would work hahahaha

Are your ears normally too small or too big?

Would you be cool testing a pair that countless others have tested before you?

    Airtasker

  • you cannot really, I would never test earphones that had the ear plugin that is screaming for an ear infection haha.

I have always just studied forums and reviews before buying in ear earphones, it has not let me down yet.

  • my wife returned some to JB as they would lose bluetooth connection - full refund

This is due to a fault

You'll find they won't accept refunds if you change your mind/they don't fit because they can't resell them

        they didn't test the fault…..
        .

        • They also didn't test it the last time my jabra elite 65t actives were faulty (issue with auto off and on when putting into the case)

I had the same problem. Luckily someone had some galaxy buds at work, i stuck them in my ears when they weren't around lol. they fit great so i went for them.

Nope….. Not unless the store has a 'demo' set on display for you to test.

They usually come with multiple size fittings these days right? Otherwise you can buy aftermarket replacement foams that are more comfortable

A guy at work bought airpods and found them too small for his ears, so he bought silicone tips off eBay that came with 5 different sizes and now he's a happy camper

Cool what are his favourite camping spots?

      • Not that kind of camper.

pretty sure the same rule applies for condoms.

    it's frowned upon.

    • but still possible

Had this same issue before, bought the Bose Soundsport Free which turned out incompatible fit to me no matter what I tried to do. Ended up selling it and bought a Jabra Elite 65T which works much better and fits me perfectly.

    • The elite 65T are amazing and are my go to ear buds.

Yes except for the slave/master system they use. I'd like to be able to use the left earbud without having to rely on the right one.

or how sometimes the left one does not go at all till you plug both back into the case a couple of times. Other that that, the sound they produce makes it all worth it and those become non problems. But I do agree with you :)

It seems like there's a lot of people that DON'T know how to position their Ear-buds…
Simply, when inserting, say the Left-side, reach around the back of your head with your Right-hand, and tug on your ear whilst pushing the Left Bud in… Do the same (opposite) with the Right side.
As long as the "pads" are OK, this will keep them in place.

…jus take them ot f heir packaging and put them on….it's not like there's a reason yo can't….had a friend who would d hs i hre was no demo or an already opened one,to look at o put on…

  • For all the people saying yuck to sharing earbuds… Wtf is wrong with you. Ear wax is basically biologically inert. Noses are a source of bacteria, but not ears. What precious and overly sensitive people refuse to share ear buds? Must be a different generation, where everyone can afford their own headphones…
