Nokia Android Sale: Nokia 5.1 Plus $239.20, Nokia 8.1 $559.20, Nokia 7.1 $359.20, Nokia 6.1 $319.20 @ JB HIFI

Credit to AusDroid for this deal:

HMD Global have announced that their entire range of smartphone and feature phones are 20% off the retail pricing at JB Hi-Fi tomorrow (Wednesday 28th March) until this Sunday, March 31st.

Nokia have become a firm favourite within the Ausdroid office and with readers, mostly due to the Android One and Android Go as their software. When HMD announced this discount we thought it was too good to miss.

Nokia 7.1 at $359.20 is probably my favourite, but Nokia 5.1 at $239 is great value.

If dual SIM is important, I'd check before purchasing.

Disappointed that Nokia 9 with 5 cameras on rear hasn't been released.

      Most lacks NFC.

Its a joke since Nokia 3 had it, but the cost cutting strategy took hold.

Probably 7.1. still using an efficient SoC (cpu).

  • I have broken my phone yesterday and have a $100 gift card to spend at JB Hifi so this deal has been timely. I do like the larger screen but is the difference between the 7.1 and 8.1 worth it?

    • Just an update. Purchased the 7.1 (currently charging). Asked if they could do a better price ended up getting it for $349. Also offered got a free 4gb data sim from Telstra but couldnt be bothered waiting for them to activate/create an account.

      • Got my son a 7.1 for his birthday. Paid $350.

        Nice looking phone.

  • What sthe final verdict which is better 6/7/8

  • Can anyone shed any light on which models have dual sim and which have NFC? I went into the Queen Street Mall (Brisbane) JB on my lunch break and they guy there didn't know. So he pulled up their website on his computer, and it doesn't say either. So he shrugged and suggested I look up online myself. Now I've tried that, and there are multiple models that could be single or dual sim. JB wont take a return either and wouldn't be obligated to by the ACL, as the sales associate at no time suggested the phone has either feature, so I couldn't return based on incorrectly described.

    • I know the 7.1 has NFC, believe it's only single sim though. I can check when I get home (have one but don't use it anymore).

      6.1 doesn't have NFC.

Nokia 6.1 has NFC, used it just yesterday.

Ah ok, thanks for the correction.

Very weird cause all the reviews and comparisons I read when I was deciding which to buy said that the 6.1 doesn't have NFC.

          example:

          https://www.androidcentral.com/nokia-7-1-vs-nokia-6-1

          • @MrFunSocks: Yep. That review was American and just like the Moto G5 Plus there they missed out on NFC, but got a compass that

we missed out on for local stock. Just like differing band support, some other specs can also vary between

            countries/models.

      • Nokia 6.1 (2018 ) does have NFC.

australian models are single sim overseas models are dual sim

Not true in all cases. 5.1 is dual SIM and has separate microSD card slot.

I'd complain to the store manager, because they should be able to tell you the features of a phone or at least find out.

        • Nope, 5.1 isn't dual sim.

          Typing on one right now.

    • Can't you return it ( within a week or two at the most ) and tell them it won't suffice your needs as you thought/need dual sim model? Is that not

      part of the ACCC laws/rules?

  • Nokia been in the shits lately.

The latest NRK scandal, Evenwell apps from the Taiwanese company interfering with users abilities to kill off apps (read Dontkillmyapp.com), Nokia 3.1 catching fire

  • only interested in the Nokia 8 Sirocco model, but it's not showing up in the JB Hifi website? Also is the NOkia HR Smartwatch worth it for $299?

    • You can still find it in certain stores but when they are off the website, it's on its way out. As for the watch, haven't played it myself but according to pricehipster it has never gone down yet in price.

    • Sirocco is available at Kogan for about $340 iirc. Better value than the 7.1

  • I have several and use Nokia phones exclusively. for last 1/2-1 year and offload them to my family member As I go Up in rank.anyway I gonna tell you all the cons for each devices that i tried.. Since we all dont want to know the Pros…

Nokia 8.1 - Screen Ok - Good, Stock Cam is ok (Gcam works with 3/4 function), Notification bar is limited space due to Huge Notch. Speaker bit wea- moderate, back cam can scratch (recommend to use camera lense screen protector)

Nokia 9 Pureview (Current) - FIngerprint shit with screen protector (Nokia promise fix), Camera apps prone to crash, photo Processing bit slow but great great result,Low light still shit(Nokia Promise fix with firmware), Not for normal point n shoot, "Limited editions" and not avail in Au atm.

note: camera lens screen protector buy in ebay search for huawei mate 8, xiaomi mi8, iphone X/XS Nokia 7 Plus or 8.1 is same size

I have the 6.1 from Officeworks and it is good value for local warranty and Reddit browsing on the bus to work.

    • Depends what your used to using in the past and what features you need, but all these Nokia represent good value locally for what you recently pay ( on sales or clearance prices ), and really can't go too far wrong with any with reasonable expectations.

I have a 6.1 also and like it so far, but still prefer using my older trusty Moto G5 Plus even more, mainly for form factor and general usability lol.

  • The 5.1 Plus is $239 again. Not sure about the other phones.
