Glenfarclas 25yo Single Malt Scotch Whisky + Bonus 40yo Miniature $199.99 + $15 Postage (Free over $200) (RRP $259.99) @ Nicks

680

An awesome deal in my view for a Glenfarclas 25yo that's worth more @ Dan's on its own and this deal comes with a miniature 40yo thrown in. If you love your sherry cask matured whiskies; Glendronach, Macallan, etc - Glenfarclas will not disappoint.

Chuck in a wine or beer to get the cart over $200 for free shipping across Australia.

A further 10% off on ebay with PULL10, however, would need to find something extra to get free shipping. Also doesn't look like you get the free mini.

Yea the eBay one doesn't come with a mini, that's a shame. It would have been an awesome stack

  • Damn.
    So tempted.

  • Good scotch so cheap! Bloody bourbon is flavour of the month and anything slightly aged needs a damn bank loan.

    • Huh?

      • Both Parker’s and Pappy are big aged ones in demand, worth around $400 a bottle but now since supply has gone out everywhere good luck for the in demand ages at less than 1k a pop (some $3500)

Think the way Yamazaki and hibiki didn’t have enough stock for their demand, good whisky but not worth the demand price.

Ah the name I can't pronounce without swearing.

    • Actually it's a full SVO sentence.

      • +3

If I need to google your acronym it’s not a valid acronym…..

      Glen-faarck-us

Now to find something worth one cent…

  • do they price match this at Dan Murphy's?

    • +1

Well they don't stock the 40yo mini, for a start.

  • oh man…that is so tempting.

  • Delicious, must resist.

Just FYI, it is $189 delivered for just the 25YO at good drop with the $10 off $100 disccount

    https://gooddrop.com.au/glenfarclas-25yo-highland-single-mal…

Only thing is the discount expire in 10 minutes but it is still $199 delivered after that.

    • Would’ve paid $100 for the mini alone though to save me buying a full bottle.

      • $100 for like 30mL?!

        • +1

Not really willing to spend more than $200 on a full bottle of great whisky, if I can try an expensive bottle at the equivalent price it’s worth the experience (40yo is $1400, 50ml means I can split it and have a smaller measure and enjoy it with someone).

  • I know the 12 gets good reviews but after polishing off a bottle over the past few weeks I wasn't blown away.

  • Damn… $75 freight to Darwin even if I include another bottle to make it over $200

I love a scotch that is old enough to drink!

  • +2

$200 buys a lot of goon

    • Also can buy a few cars

  • Sounds like something I’d say when I stub my toe…

  • +1

Nah, too expensive for a drop. No matter how good it is, you gonna piss it out anyway. So there goes your $200 down the bowl.

Does it still taste like dirt? but people pretend it's nice because they paid heaps for it?

    • Are you making a general comment or one about this whisky in particular?

      • -4

        General :D

Question: who checks that the liquid is actually 25 or 40 years old? Do we just take the producer's word for it?

The international whisk(e)y standards authority undertakes carbon dating on each and every bottle of whisk(e)y produced globally. Unless, of course, a country chooses not to participate in the program. Ireland, India, Sweden and Canada are notable countries who don't participate. I like to call them the axis of whisk(e)y evil.

Try to google the "whiskey bottling scandal of 1967" - it's shocking some of the stuff that goes on in the whisk(e) production world.

  • I didn't rate the 25 very highly. The 30 was amazing. I'm still tempted to pick this up for the 40 and offer the 25 to guests.

I paid $167 for the 25yo in May 2017 from eBay after a 20% off code. I also bought a dram of the 40yo for a mate in July 2015 at a bar in New Zealand for about $55. The older Glenfarclas prices have shot up since then. I paid $350 for my 30yo in early 2017 when most places were selling it for $450, then a month later it was $750.

These tasting notes for whisky or, indeed, any liquor, are a wank. What one person perceives as a heavenly perfume may be an intolerable stench for another.

    • Ever smelt a wino? They are oblivious to their own stench - thus, perceived heavenly perfume conceived by thyne intoxicated cerebrum.

  • Damn missed it :(
