    What makes them smart ?

    • Hi,
Thanks for your comment, they are compatible Google Home and Alexa and can be controlled by voice. Also can be controlled via smart phone app. Apart from that, there are timing setup, count down, push notification, scene mode available.

      Thanks

      • -2

        Are they secure ?

How do we know Russian hackers won't take over control of our lights ??

        • +22

Don't worry comrade, dis light very good, you can securely Putin your house.

        • +2

No point Stalin. You should be Russian to put these in - you'll be vlad that you did. But hey, if you see red flags, so ve it.

        vasectomy ?

        • not quite…. :)

    • What makes them so extremely expensive?

      • -1

The Russian Billionaires that are backing the company.

  • Is there a minimum wattage these can drive? I recall reading somewhere once when it's controlling a few low power LEDs (say a single light at <10w) these switches aren't great at dimming. (Not just these switches, all dimmer switches)

    • Hi

      Thanks for asking.

There is no minimum load for light switches, however, the minimum load for dimmers is 8w

  • @Store rep,

Can you provide the new and genuine SAA approval numbers for the switches?

I've just quickly checked and you have no SAA safety approval that is publicly available for any of the products listed in this sale. Happy to be corrected (if I am wrong), but suspect you are still trying to pass these off under the previous SAA approval numbers which are not for these products.

    Cheers!

      Thanks for asking.

You can please find details from the link below and search by trade name Ctec

Not sure where you saw those information but it is not true.

      • Thanks! AZ 69023203 right?

        • +1

          yes

Please comment out your previous post if possible. just don't want to cause any misunderstanding to other people.

          Thank you

          • @Ctec Sales: Replied to posts cannot be commented out and assurance you are now operating under a valid SAA is important. Approval date was 21/12/2018.

            • +1

@MorriJ: Due to regulation changed by the Australian government, after 01/07/2018 electronic wall switches have become declared article and new certificate needs to be applied for. Before that time smart light switches used to be non declared article and therefore our old SAA certificate was no longer valid.

              Thanks

              • -1

@Ctec Sales: Thanks for the explanation and I understand the changes (Amendment 4 of AS/NZS 4417.2:2012 published on June 30 2017 - ie appendix B of AS/NZS 4417.2 which took effect on 30 June 2018 regarding the new classification for declared articles).

It's good prices for an approved SAA light switch. I'm looking to settle on a property soon and seriously considering replacing the lot in the house.

                  @MorriJ: Thanks

  • I'm curious if there are any smartswitches which fit older standard 45mm wide half size switch plates/backboxes? Tempted to change but not keen on cutting out bricks to make them fit..

    • It seems like currently no smart light switch will fit 45mm

  • How do these work with two way switches?

Also, is there any 4 gang models available?

    • +1

      Hi

      Thanks for your inquiry
We have 2 way switches in 1/2/3 gang in particular models, they are paired from a master switch and a slave switch. only the master switch connects to the lighting circuit and slave doesn't. once both configured to WiFi, they will communicate to each other via your local WiFi network and slave controls master and then master controls lights. slave switch will never connects to any light directly. Which means without WiFi network only the master switch can control the light. Just keep in mind our normal light switch can not be used for 2 way.
Currently we don't have 4 gang yet.

      Hope my explanation makes sense.

      Thanks

      • Hi, can a 2 switch pair with multiple switches? or even 3 way?

        E.g.
        S1 - L1,L2,L4
        S2 - L1,L3,L4
        S3 - L2,L3,L4

        L1 paired with S1,S2
        L2 paired with S1,S3
        L3 paired with S2,S3
        L4 operable by S1,S2,S3

        Thanks

        • Hi

Sorry our switches are not able to achieve this.

Does discount apply if I mix n match?

    • yes I think so, please let us know if it doesn't and we will work it out for you

Good deal, just bought 7 switches. My electrician recommend Ctec switches to me a while ago when we were discussing more user friendly options than the Hue bulbs I currently have. Looks like I'll be getting him back to do some work :D

    • Thank you for being a Ctec customer ;-)

Please let us know if you need any assistance.

  • I like you look of the actual switches, you should make a non smart version, for lights switches and dimmers

    • Hi, yes we have non smart touch only switches. However they are not listed on Amazon. Feel free to contact us to see where to buy them

  • +1

I’d buy these if I needed them just because the op doesn’t just post a deal then bugger off.

    Good to see. :)

    • Thanks

  • Very good idea but not all house has neutral wire unfortunately.

    • Understand. This is one of the restrictions we have at the moment

  • Currently I’ve 3x3 gang switches and works perfectly when you successfully add the switches thru app. But finding and adding the switches thru your smart devices takes a lot of time. It took me 2 hours just to add those three switches.

I do have them in different wifi setting to my other wifis
Recently got installed two way switches but electricians could not get two switches to talk to each other. Individually they work but I would like them to work as good as normal switch. Waiting for sparky to come back to me to fix that.

I’m thinking of changing all my light switches to these later. Apart from above mentioned problems I’m very happy with it.
I’ve not played with all the functions that these offers.
Hope this helps anyone considering buying these.

  • These were posted about a week ago…
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/443258

They sound like a bad idea for retro fits (requires new wiring to be run).
Otherwise they might be ok, but they really do seem expensive for what they are.

At a minimum of $100 a piece when bought in quantity you could easily blow a grand and still not have enough for a small house lot.
Adding wiring if retrofitting (existing wiring in 99% of cases will be inadequate) these are not a straight swap for a sparky, they will require more time and effort to install.

This is an additional 5% discount on the last post, maybe wait another week for another 5% off?

All things considered, expensive (for what it is) with an expensive install, worth a neg before people end up in over their heads.

Thanks for your comment. If you think about the cost of running a proper business in such a small market and companies need to provide high quality products/services and local warranty . Besides these there are labor cost, marketing expenses, storage costs, logistic cost and also the tax to be paid to Australian government and etc. We also supply electrical wholesalers and lighting shops national wide. If you can give me some tips on how to bring down all these costs and definitely will be able to reduce the prices. We are not an eBay seller.

      Thanks

      • To be honest, i don't particularly think the product in and of itself is bad.
The value is questionable, but the ultimate failure is the need for a neutral (an additional cable run to each wall plate).
To be clear to the other punters reading this the requirement of the additional wiring applies to many systems, not just this one.
This places your product in a situation where retrofitting it would be prohibitively expensive for most (ok, not all) end users.

The fact that it can only be installed by an electrician probably suggests it should be marketed to electricians.
In addition to all that there are also already many other automation flavors, that said the incumbents products (Clipsal) are even worse value.
8 years working for an electrical wholesaler, selling anything C-Bus was like winning lotto.

Getting a foot in at Middy's, L&H or AWM would be the best bet.

        • Thanks. Most of our customers either built their new houses or had got neutral wire in their houses already before installing our products.
Also we do contact lots of electricians to introduce our product range, but we have found at the end of the day it is their clients tell them to install our product, that's the reason currently we mainly focus on retail market . Currently we supply some major electrical wholesalers like MMEM, L&H, Go Electrical, CNW, City Electric Supply and etc. also there are quite a few lighting shops distribute our product. This is the traditional channel and you work for an electrical wholesaler so you should know the reason behind our price strategy. Hope someday you would like to give Ctec a try and it might change your mind.

          Thank you
