    ew telstra.

    • +7

Not everyone lives in the city and have the liberty of going with a cheaper provider.

      • I live in the city and Telstra is the ONLY network I don't get service at home!

  • -6

I really don't understand why Telstra can give crap deals and expect people to take them up. Seriously, wtf is wrong with them??? Someone please enlighten me.

    • +12

Because they have the best coverage, and fastest mobile internet, from my experience anyway.

    • +4

I don't know what deals they have but..

They have the fastest/one of the fastest 3G networks on the planet.
They have twice as much 3G coverage as the closest competitor in the country.

Crap deals? They've gained over a million new mobile subscribers in the last 12 months. Your opinion means nothing!

    • +2

Telstra deals may be more expensive and not as attractive as other service providers, but no other service providers can even come close to having the same coverage as Telstra.

    • +1

How about doing your own research before running your mouth….

    • +1

from my experience with Three, Optus, and Telstra
Telstra's 3G is double the speed of Three and its consistently connected unlike three or optus.

although i live in metro area, im going with telstra when iphone 5 is released

      • +1

Agreed, Three has been very patchy with reception and Internet is very slow at times and can be completely absent in some areas.

I think Tel$tra is worth the extra dollars - especially if you take advantage of some of the occasional offers, particularly if you need it work.

Sitting in a cinema with a friend who also had an iPhone 4, I had 4/5 bars on my Telstra connected phone and was browsing the internet with ease (before the movie :-). With his Vodafone connected phone, he had 1/5 bars and had pages constantly timing out. You pay more with Telstra but also get a better service.

        • Jeez, the trailers must've been total crap! :o

FWIW, my Voda personal phone often only gets minimal signal sometimes in line-of-sight of a tower; thus agreed, their network is shite! Thank goodness work uses Helstra, I hate the bastards but their network reigns supreme, sho'nuff! ;)

    • Trolling for sure

  • Latest Android 2.2.1 firmware released just a few days ago for this phone.

  • my bad mistake

Now that there has been enough discussion about TEL$TRA how do we get the phone at this price and is that 199 including a bonus 50 credit or how does this work? Any details on the catalouge? As it is not available online!

    • I'm going to try and pick one up from my local Big W this afternoon, I'll let you know.

      • nup, only available at $249. the promo might start during the week.

        I don't mind it for $249, it's a great phone.

  • Is this better than a Nokia E63?

    • Of course it is… spec for spec you're looking at more memory, gruntier CPU, better camera, 7mbps HSDPA and Google Maps + GPS support. Not to mention it runs a much better operating system.

      • Gruntier, quite possibly, but it still lags when playing Angry Birds Rio (did it as a test last night)… Good thing I still have an iPhone 4 for games - this is only really a backup.

    • I was actually just thinking of buying an E63 to replace my current crappy phone. Anything wrong with it or are you just demanding more features?

    • It would be a problem to find Nokia E63 at same price as HTC Wildfire. Much more easier - at about half price of it. I own E63 and no complaints about it, just you get what you are paying for.

    • U should get e71, which is only about $10-15 extra.

Better supported OS I would say. Android usually needs more grunt because of its non optimized code and poor multitasking, all the phone makers love gettting it for free but how much they are really putting back in the project is sad. Symbian does a lot more with a lot less. Also the non touch screen keyboard is better suited to women with long nails. Having said that the Wildfire is a better phone overall and what i would buy, good price.

  • Any fee to unlock after the $50 recharge? thanks.

  • Definite +1, Telstra is the only operator I'll go with until Optus and Vodafone can actually connect calls in Townsville.

Wildfire is a great phone, like a diet Desire :)

  • Okay the total cost is 249.00 Not sure of this is any good a deal as you have to pay for unlocking as well.

  • Yeah… $199 without the $50 ontop would be an awesome deal.. BigW used to have it for $179.. but that lasted not long at all..

Currently on the lookout for a reasonable priced one for my wifey :P
