  • That router good for 199?

    • Seems pretty damn good. I'm tempted.

Have seen some reviews that have had issues…but if you need crazy speed at a low price, this seems to be it.

    • Depends. This unit was released back in late 2016 and at the time, the CPU was considered pretty good. But, a newer gen of router CPUs have already been released. It was also an earlier gen of MU-MIMO based on Broadcom chipset (so it's there just to get the MU-MIMO tick, but it isn't good). The advantage of Broadcom chipset is that you generally can use custom firmware, but if you are really into custom firmware, you wouldn't pick D-Link.

Unless D-Link really improved the firmware, based on smallnetbuilder's review, wireless bridging is not supported. That's one of my issues with my past D-Link routers (wireless bridging simply didn't work properly regardless of which firmware I used). If one single router is sufficient to cover your entire house, then you could consider it. I wouldn't recommend it to my friends though.

The price and the bonus wifi cam is quite tempting though.

      • the manual says sept 2015 so its at least a generation old however I think it'll still be more than even many enthusiasts would need

concur on Dlink having terrible bridging.

        • Some people had bad experience (reliability). And, compared to competing offerings from Netgear and Asus, this one has half of the RAM. Lack of wireless bridging or bad wireless bridging is a sign of bad firmware.

Enthusiasts - getting previous gen CPU router (2015/2016) doesn't feel right. Even the lower cost current gen CPU beats this one by a decent margin.

  • I believe this is the same router as this:

    https://www.harveynorman.com.au/d-link-ac5300-ultra-wi-fi-ro…

but with a plain black casing but otherwise technically the same.

I would probably buy one. I mean I dont need it since I have a cisco, the razor portal and the legendary DIR865L but jeez… $199 for that? i'd be a mug not to buy one.

    • 2 and bit stars

  • Plus shipping?

    • +1

Yes it would be - there's no more space available in the title but I've added to the description. Otherwise you should be able to reserve and get in store using this page. Cheap items like the USB sticks wouldn't be worth buying if you had to get them shipped.

  • btw. the free camera is a bit meh

    https://www.dlink.com.au/home-solutions/DCS-8100LH-180-Degre…

only 720p… more a baby monitor cam and they wanted $199 for it?

    LOL

  • Asus RT 68? Better or worse than this?

    • +1

In terms of CPU, the D-Link one is technically faster (though not by much - they are basically the same gen CPU). the D-Link router has better wifi chip. For reliability and flexibility, RT-68u.

RT-68 is popular due to its wide range of firmware support (Merlin, Asus Ai-Mesh, plus your standard xWRT ones). I have no wifi client device capable of AC5300 anyway so to me, I am still okay with my old RT-68. If I have to get a new one, I would pick RT-86 (which has a newer gen CPU and double the RAM) or better (but must have a newer gen CPU at least).

  • hey Op - i can't see how to get the 2 for $10 deal

    SanDisk ULTRA Type-C (SDCZ450-032G) 32G USB3.1 (Gen 1) Type-C Flash Pen Drive, 2 for $10. No limits

    • +1

It's a weekend deal. Sorry, there wasn't room so I couldn't fit it in the title but it's in the description.

  • Jonty - does cannington (WA) have stock of the dell router?

    • There should be a stock check tab on the website.

  • How does this work?
When adding 2 to the cart the price doesn't seem to change, and when adding 1 there is no reference to getting the second for free.

    • Weekend deal, description updated.

      • It says it begins on the 15th, which is today.

        • hmm, so it does. Not sure then.

          • @Zazer: Seems to work for me, the USB adds a second Automatically as a free gift, the router is at the price noted. Perhaps they updated at 10?

            • @Jonty766: Price doesn’t update for flash drives for Cannington WA, click and collect. I ordered and did pay in store so hope they can adjust price when I pick up.

doesn't work for me as well.
router, SD card, USBC device, nothing works.

      • Seems to work for me, the USB adds a second Automatically as a free gift, the router is at the price noted. Perhaps they updated at 10?

        • usb drive doesnot work for me. The router is ok.

        • I reckon you're right, just tried again and it worked fine.

  • Local(amazon, HN, mwave) reviews for this Router were terrible.
    need to find alternative.

    • Router is no longer available in MSY website.

  • ASUS 23.8" (VA249HE) 5ms 1920x1080 FHD HDMI D-DUB VA Monitor for $129.
    is it good monitor?

    • +1

Depends on whether VA's colour shift is a big issue for you or not. For me, it is (so VA monitors are out for me). My brother was very happy when I gave him a VA monitor for free though (VA is no issue for him whatsoever).

  • How can I get more than 1 gift? I already add more to cart but I only get 1 gift

    • I don't even see any gift in the order.
Their customer support said, you will get free one when they ship or you pick up.

Garbage router OOS already only managed to buy 15, had to get other credit card and it’s all gone now. See you on eBay at 150$ profit each :-)

im at msy ultimo atm they said they don't have any usb c ones left said maybe getting them this afternoon, picked up a pair of the micro SD didn't see how many left

    • plenty of both at MSY Kingsford

  • How to choose pick up?

  • I made three pick up orders. One shows as "Ready for Pickup" - an email was received for this one.
The other two show as 'Order Finalized' and I got no email.
    What might this mean?

Two orders are for a 32Gb MicroSD card. Then one more with a 32Gb USB plus a 32Gb MicroSd card - this one is "Ready for Pickup".

All three orders showed a free 32Gb MicroSD card as well as the one I paid for.

    • I received everything I had ordered including all 2 for 1 items.

It meant all three orders had been consolidated into one order.
