    And the $1 item is?

    • depends if apps are included
if not, a 20 bucks game was the cheapest I found (physical disc)

      • So $419 after cashback?

    • +1

you can buy a movie for 3.99 or 5.99

        Great find!!

  • I couldn't find any physical items for $1. It would depend if you can get apps/games/dlcs for $1 to make up the difference.

The cheapest physical items I found (under accessories) were:

you can buy a movie for 3.99 or 5.99

      • Maybe the title should be updated then!

        • I added it in description

      • misread this as rent. guess i have a move to watch when my device comes in

    • You can also buy an episode of a TV series in SD quality for $2.99

    is it worth $400?

It’s a $2000 computer paired back as far as possible to compete with an iPad so in some respects it is good value but at the end of the day the iPad does a better job of being an iPad.

Would be good if you prefer Windows for some reason but have a consume/read/watch use case.

if you prefer Windows for some reason

More freedom? Nobody approving what you can or can not install.
e.g. ad-blocker plugins for Chrome. No more adverts on youtube etc.

That's all I can think of. Otherwise, iPad wins.

Mouse support. USB storage. File manager. Ability to use it as a computer and not just a browser and media playback device.

          • @lostn: iPad lacks mouse support?! Wow, that sucks.
Actually, I should know IOS support for bluetooth is bad from my phone.
But people do attach keyboards to iPad and use them for office tasks.
And I think recent IOS has a file manager of sorts :) But mostly, people use cloud storage.

            • @bargaino: It’s not a real file manager. Also windows doesn’t resist you trying to copy unsupported file extensions in order to “protect” you. You can transfer anything to it and don’t need iTunes or a content manager or use apps that get around it.

It might also have sad card support. At least my SP does.

iPad supports keyboards but no mouse cursor, which means no mouse or track pad. Using excel with a touch screen is not fun.

        • @manic it’s ansusing you think you have freedom in Windows. Prevent updates installing without registry hacks or disabling devices, turn off information gather and actually have it stay off haha sure you have freedom

          • @WhiteEvo6: That's a lot more freedom than iOS offers.

You can prevent updates in Windows easily with Pro. I only ever manually update. No hacks or third party apps. Info gathering is off.

        • I feel like i just stumbled into a Mac vs PC fanboi rumble, and got beat up by both when they saw my Linux T-shirt :-)

      • where the 2k figure coming from?

      • +1

iPad does a poor job at being a desktop os tablet / 2 in 1 / laptop though.

At the end of the day the surface does a better job at being a surface.

    • I absolutely hate the flappy keyboard + kickstand. That alone is a no from me.

If you mainly use it with just touch / stylus it does some tricks an Ipad doesn't I guess.

      • Just don’t buy the keyboard and use it as purely a touch screen like the iPad.

Buy 5* $100 gift cards, redeem them to your account, buy the surface go for $499 using your account balance, and keep the $1 to use late.

I wouldn't bother with the 64gb version, iirc it uses eMMC which is slow as hell. The 128 GB model has an actual SSD.

  • Hi Guys,

$399 for the Surface Go or
$650 for the Surface Pro M3 with the keyboard (4gb & 128gb add)

Anyone have experience with the Surface pro M3?

    • where do you get the $650 for surface pro M3 with keyboard? $650 is a good deal.

I would get surface Go for its portability, anything else I would go for Surface Pro M3 with keyboard.

  • Haha I have been wanting to post this for the past 1 week. Thanks for taking the action to post.

  • So I am trying to buy a Surface Go, can't find a way to buy it without buying a bundle so I use live chat, goes like this:

I just got a confirmation from my support that, there’s an on-going experimentation on our store website where we wanted to see if this will increase our attach rate of Surface accessories and Office..
    You at 14:11, Mar 21:
    Haha
    Alexis at 14:11, Mar 21:

This experimentation will only take for 12 days.

Ummm, wow. Not sure that's meant to be disclosed. So do I just buy gift cards and wait 12 days…?
